Those armchair warriors at Fox News seem to think that dealing with the supposedly “liberal media” is as bad (if not worse) than dealing with Russia or Syria.
Yesterday, President Obama mocked Republican candidates for being wusses when it comes to mainstream media debate questions:
“Candidates tough talk about Putin,” Obama said, referring to Republican presidential contenders like Donald Trump, who has argued that his negotiation skills would lead to better U.S.-Russian relations.
“They say, ‘when I talk to Putin, he’s going to straighten out,’” he said mocking the Republican slate, “and then it turns out they can’t handle a bunch of CNBC moderators.”
“If you can’t handle those guys, I don’t think the Chinese and the Russians are going to be too worried about you,” Obama joked.
That same day, Fox News contributor Peter Johnson, Jr. praised Republican candidate Carly Fiorina’s “courage” for going on The View after they made fun of her “demented” looks.
“Carly Fiorina is about to be dropped behind enemy lines, as it were, as a conservative commando,” Johnson said. He later undercut his own metaphor by calling The View “kind of a combination of Pee-Wee’s Playhouse meets, I don’t know, the Marx Brothers and Margaret Dumont.”
Johnson said The View had “at times” been a serious show, as when Barbara Walters and Elisabeth Hasselbeck (now a Fox & Friends host) were cohosts. “But at this point, for Carly Fiorina to engage in a debate with that is kind of like debating Andrew Dice Clay in the morning.”
Nevertheless, Johnson raved that Fiorina has “got a lot of courage going in there. …I think it’s courageous.”
Does Johnson really think Fiorina going to “Pee-Wee’s Playhouse” to debate “Andrew Dice Clay” is like a soldier heading off to war? Or is that just another way for Fox to promote its pro-Fiorina, anti-View propaganda?
We report, you decide.
