Thank goodness there’s at least one Fox News conservative not blindly following Donald Trump’s self-serving smears of Susan Rice.
As we previously reported, the Fox News Russia Deflection Team’s Susan Rice project has gone full out trying to make Barack Obama’s national security adviser’s purported unmasking of a Trump operative (which appears to have been completely legal) a vehicle to both justify Donald Trump’s wiretap lie and to distract from mounting evidence of his campaign’s collusion with Russia as it interfered in our election.
But Krauthammer may be the one Fox News conservative skipping the Susan Rice Kool-Aid.
KRAUTHAMMER: Look, the fact is that we don’t know a damn thing and we’re talking out of our hats about Susan Rice. We have one or two scraps of evidence. Yes, she did unmask one person at least one time. We have no idea if it’s one time or 50 times. We have no idea if this was an incidental and unremarkable unmasking in order to understand some intelligence or whether it was a campaign on her part and the part of others to unmask people surrounding the president as a political weapon.
[…]
I’m saying that as of now, in the absence of evidence, all we can say is we don’t know and we need to ask her questions. I think the jumping to conclusions is wrong if it’s an attack on Susan Rice or if it’s an attack on anybody on the Republican side. … As of yet, we are speculating in the absence of any evidence.
