Fox host Jeanine Pirro was so unhinged over the thought of some gun control measures President Obama plans to adopt through executive actions that she lost track of truth, reason and sanity. Again.

PIRRO: As we venture into 2016, the most dangerous threat to Americans is President Obama’s intent to use his presidential action to once again usurp Congressional powers and circumvent the Constitution by thinking up new actions this Monday with his attorney general. Translation? Together, they will chip away at our Second Amendment gun rights.

Really? I can understand somebody disagreeing with President Obama’s actions, even strenuously disagreeing, but “the most dangerous threat to Americans?” I don’t think so. Something tells me most other Americans wouldn’t think so, either.

Pirro suddenly switched subjects and began attacking Obama over his handling of ISIS and Al Qaeda.

Apparently, that’s why we all need to be armed to the teeth and are in such grave danger:

PIRRO: So where does all this leave you? Up a creek, not just without a paddle but without a gun as well. At a time when we face the biggest threat we have ever been confronted with, our Commander in Chief is on an anti-Second Amendment crusade to take away our guns.

Actually, President Obama is not trying to “take away our guns” but instill some sanity into our gun culture. From The Washington Post:

One of the main proposals Obama is poised to adopt would require some unlicensed gun dealers to get licenses and conduct background checks on potential buyers. The change is aimed at occasional dealers, including some who sell online frequently or rent tables at gun shows but do not have a storefront.

...The administration has been weighing other proposals, including requiring federally licensed gun dealers to report any lost and stolen guns to the National Crime Information Center; providing guidance on restricting dangerous individuals from carrying guns within a specified distance of a school; clarifying that convicted abusers are prohibited from having guns regardless of their marital status; and instructing federal law enforcement to identify and arrest criminals who attempt to buy illegal guns.

The final package will contain at least half a dozen measures, and possibly more, according to those who have been briefed on it.

Pirro didn’t identify a single one of the possible actions, preferring, instead, to frighten her viewers with hyperbole and exaggeration. But she wasn’t done yet.

PIRRO: Mr. President, the issue is terrorism, not mass shootings. And yet because of a political agenda, you refuse to confront the biggest danger that we face. Instead of blaming guns, why don’t you start shooting terrorists?

While Pirro might be hiding under her bed with her guns, expecting a terrorist attack at any moment, the truth is that she and the rest of us are in more danger of being fatally crushed by furniture than terrorism.

This rant aired Saturday night, before the Bundy gang’s armed occupation of a federal wildlife refuge became widely known. I don’t know whether Pirro will address this issue next week. I do know that she, along with the rest of us, is more than 7 times more likely to be killed by a right-wing extremist than a Muslim terrorist.

But don’t expect her to tell you that – unless she can find a way to blame President Obama.
