Fox & Friends brought on a fave African American black-attacker, Sheriff David Clarke, to “defend” charges that Donald Trump and his supporters are bigots - by dredging up misleading history and pretending that “Mrs. Bill Clinton” is a bigger racist.
“You’re a racist, I’m a racist, everybody is a racist,” Clarke announced. “This word gets overused. It hardly has any meaning anymore.”
Except when it's used against a Democrat. Referring to accusations that Trump and his supporters are racists, Clarke said, “This is a classic case of the pot calling the kettle black. Mrs. Bill Clinton is the recipient of the Margaret Sanger Award.”
Clarke went on to attack Planned Parenthood and Sanger: “As you know, the founder of Planned Parenthood. She was a eugenicist who supported the extermination of the black race. She called the black race ‘a weed.’ She embraces that award. She embraces the support of an organization that kills more black babies than any other race.”
Fact check: This is a right-wing canard. As Ellen wrote in response to Ben Carson’s use of the same argument:
While it’s true [Sanger] was tied to the then-popular eugenics movement, Planned Parenthood has specifically disavowed those views. The organization also makes an apt analogy, noting, “attempts to discredit the family planning movement because its early 20th-century founder was not a perfect model of early 21st-century values is like disavowing the Declaration of Independence because its author, Thomas Jefferson, bought and sold slaves.”
Uninterrupted and unchallenged, Clarke continued attacking Clinton. “This is a party, the Democrat party, that stood in the way of the Civil Rights Act 1964, that stood in the way of Lincoln trying to free the slaves, that embraced and supported and voted for Senator Robert Byrd, a former Klansman They welcomed him into the party as they did George Wallace who stood in the school house door and said, ‘Segregation today, segregation tomorrow and segregation forever.’”
Let’s take a moment to do what FOX & Friends won’t do and evaluate some of those comments from Clarke:
- Robert Byrd renounced his association with the Klan decades before he died and was a supporter of then-candidate Barack Obama in 2008. The NAACP honored Byrd and his commitment to civil rights when he died.
- Yes, Democrats opposed civil rights legislation but that’s because of the Dixiecrats who eventually became Republicans.
Clarke finished his rant by returning to Hillary Clinton: "So her party has a history of racism. So I’m not going to sit up here and be lectured by Mrs. Bill Clinton, about who is a racist or who is not a racist,” he declared.
Instead of challenging Clarke’s deception, cohost Clayton Morris helped validate it. “Democrats don’t want you to remember about Robert Byrd. They try to sweep that under the rug.”
Actually, Byrd’s past is not forgotten and has been widely reported.
Morris then changed the topic to “ask” Clarke if he agrees that Republicans should unite around Trump.
You can probably guess what Clarke said.
Watch it below, from the May 7 Fox & Friends, the home for Trump cheerleading.
The STUPID is strong in this one!
Coincidentally, I was pointed to this Cook Political Report study (via Daily Kos) into racial resentments amongst both white Republicans and Democrats. It’s a fascinating look into the devolution of Republican racial attitudes over the last 30 years.

The take-away is racial resentments towards blacks by white conservatives is blowing off the charts. This, naturally, explains the right-wing swoon over presumptive nominee and definite bigot Trump.
But Clarke’s black you say? But first and foremost he’s a comfortable middle-class right-winger rising above race to lip sync with the protecters of whiteness at FOX News and their buddy race-baiting bigot Rush Limbaugh.
While hard-core black right-wingers are rare they do exist and FOX News likely has each and every one in their Rolodex to trot on camera to pimp their propaganda legitimizing their bigotry as something grander than it is.
Ever think of that -? (PS: you might not even be allowed at O’Reilly’s country club, ponder that one …)
What a man this is…I haven’t figured out yet if he is really trying to be white or if he’s just a whore that will sell his very soul (and race) for enough money.
In either case, I’m guessing that his children and grandchildren will NOT be proud.
