Fox News reporter Doug McKelway threw a little gratuitous dig at Black Lives Matter protesters while discussing President Obama’s position on gun control in the wake of the Charleston shooting.
It was not surprising that McKelway would take digs at Obama for his past comments “that appeared to nudge the scales of justice in racially charged incidents.” Predictably, we saw for the zillionth time the clip of Obama saying, “If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon.”
But after running through President Obama’s efforts on gun control, McKelway dropped this little race bomb:
MCKELWAY: The Charleston shooting also occurs amidst a crisis in some large American cities, including Baltimore and New York, escalating murder rates as police pull back in the face of unrelenting criticism over aggressive policing.
In the already tense atmosphere of American’s inner city neighborhoods, this apparent hate crime may be a true test of peace and calm in the hot summer months ahead.
McKelway didn’t present a single reason to believe that riots might break out over Charleston. Yet Fox has lectured others for jumping to conclusions about Charleston.
Watch it below, from the June 18 Special Report.
And then, of course, Hannity and the like have gone out of their way to praise the people of Charleston (ie, the black folks) for their restraint and compare them unfavorably to Ferguson, Baltimore, etc.
What do they not get about the massively different impact on a community when a supposed law enforcement officer kills people as opposed to a lone racist idiot? These people who profess to so loathe oppression by the government completely forget about government oppression when it involves the killing of black people by an agent of said government.
