Much of the internet world is ridiculing Donald Trump for tweeting “I love Hispanics!” while eating a taco bowl in honor of Cinco de Mayo. But to Fox host Neil Cavuto, Trump was extending an “olive branch” that totally proves he’s not bigoted.
You have to see Trump’s tweet to believe it.
Fortunately, the Twitterverse hit back with just the kind of mockery Trump deserved.
But not Cavuto. He called the tweet an “olive branch.” And never mind that not all Hispanics are Mexicans. Cavuto’s comments were almost as laughably insensitive as Trump’s tweet.
CAVUTO: I think they call this an olive branch, or it could be a taco bowl, but to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, Donald Trump—well, enjoying this fine classic Mexican dish in his Trump Tower offices and reminding folks how much he loves Hispanics. This coming little more than a day after Vicente Fox, the former President of Mexico, said he maybe went too far with some comments he’s made about Donald Trump, now wants Donald Trump to come down to Mexico to see Mexico for himself. Mr. President, very good to have you.

It sounds like you want to make amends here, and he wants make amends, too, to the Mexican people.
Nowhere in Trump’s tweet did he say anything about wanting to make amends. If you ask me, Trump only wanted to look like he wanted to make amends. In any event, I seriously doubt that a single Hispanic mind was changed about Trump as a result of the tweet, at least not in a positive direction.
Even worse, Trump’s tweet included a big dose of self-promotion that was utter BS. As I wrote on Liberal America, the Trump Tower Grill doesn’t even serve taco bowls. They were offering them today, as a “taco fiesta.”
Fox wasn’t buying the “olive branch” bit. “What we need is him listening and learning the way of life of others, starting with the immigrants of the United States,” Fox said about Trump.
But unlike Trump, Fox seemed earnest in his desire to reach out. “My grandfather was a migrant that came from Cincinnati, Ohio, down to Mexico, the state of Guanajuato, looking for his American dream. So I do have a very strong respect for this nation, and I really want to contribute to keep this strong partnership that we have built with the United States through NAFTA,” he said.
However Cavuto couldn’t seem to understand why Fox (or anyone, apparently) would think Trump is a bigot. Because just like Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity and Fox News “liberal” Eboni Williams, Cavuto has never seen any indication of bigotry in Trump.
CAVUTO: Do you think it goes a little too far when you claim that he’s a bigot? I’ve covered the guy for 30+ years, I’ve never seen any indication of that. He wasn’t against, you know, Mexicans, the way that was played, the way you kind of reacted to it. He was against those who get into this country illegally and don’t play by the rules. What is wrong with that?

My only point is that he did not indict all Mexicans, he did not indict all Hispanics, he did not indict all immigrants.

No, Trump has not indicted all Mexican immigrants, just most. And when one of his supporters beat up a Hispanic man and claimed to have been inspired by Trump, he praised the thug’s passion. There are plenty of other examples of Trump's blatant hostility to Hispanics.
It’s hard to know which would be worse: Cavuto really missing the bigotry in Trump or seeing it and thinking there’s nothing wrong with it.
Watch Cavuto talk up the taco bowl tweet below, from the May 5 Your World.
The creation and sale of street drugs, in the USA, is overwhelmingly a Hispanic concern.
Since Mexicans began to dominate the food service industry, food passioning cases have increased drastically.. ETC. ETC.
The violent riots at Trump events have also been the work of your flock.
What have you done? You run your filthy mouth, Mexico won’t pay for your F———g Wall.
You seem to be using to much of your own product.. Say No To Drugs.
“But to Fox host Neil Cavuto, Trump was extending an “olive branch” that totally proves he’s not bigoted.”
Yeah, SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURE.
And I’m Pope Francis I.
’Nuff said.
Most of the rest of America gets it I think. Hispanics definitely get it.
What’s so ironic is Trump is so proud of this moment I can see the fool using it in an outreach campaign ad on Univision.
Taco Bowls are NOT a Mexican dish
