Fox psychiatrist Keith Ablow was full of praise for Vice President Joe Biden’s resilience following the tragic death of his son, Beau Biden. But about two and a half years ago, Ablow suggested the vice president suffered from dementia and might be a drunkard as well.
Ablow appeared on Fox & Friends this morning to discuss how the vice president “is going to be dealing” with “burying a second child.”
As Raw Story reminded me, in October, 2012, on this same Fox & Friends show, Ablow analyzed Biden’s vice presidential debate performance with the following:
ABLOW: I did not evaluate Joe Biden but if someone said to me, “Listen, we want you to do what’s really required to know what happened there,” you have to put “dementia” on the differential diagnosis… If this were your Dad or your grandfather, wouldn’t you say, if you brought him to me, “Keith, you gotta tell me, is he suffering with dementia? Because he can’t seem to listen, he’s laughing inappropriately.” …You’d want his alcohol level (as well).
But Ablow seems to be suffering his own memory loss. Today, Ablow thought Biden was not just compos mentis but a model of mental strength.
ABLOW: Families in political life, families who have served, may be more resilient than others. They have a context for their suffering, they want to make contributions. …It would be a human thing if the vice president were to become depressed. Who might not?
However, he is a resilient man. He lived through the loss of his wife and another child. And I would expect him to double his involvement with his family, if that’s even possible, ‘cause we know him to be a very involved family man.
None of the hosts seemed to notice the drastic change in Ablow’s tune. Maybe they’re the ones who should be evaluated for dementia!
Watch it below, via Raw Story.
Well, that much is obvious: if you had, you’d have known that Biden is a teetotaler, making the claim that he “might have been drunk” at the VP debate ridiculous.
Isn’t diagnosis without evaluation grounds for a malpractice suit?

For a proper evaluation, a baseline of mental competence must be present for comparison. Unfortunately, that’s not available at Fox.
