Fox News host Chris Wallace all but asked Rush Limbaugh to blow the “Obama’s a secret Muslim dog whistle” and egged him on when he suggested Obama’s race compelled him to want terrorist “payback."
Wallace began by promoting Limbaugh's 'ISIS Is Just Alright With Me' song mocking Obama
Limbaugh was there, ostensibly, to promote a new children’s book he’s written. But Wallace’s first question promoted Limbaugh’s “Barack Hussein O and the Jihadi Singers” song called, “ISIS Is Just Alright With Me.”
WALLACE: I want to start with a new song that you played on your show Friday, from a group you called, "Barack Hussein O and Jihadi Singers." Here is a clip.
LIMBAUGH: That’s exactly right.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE (singing): ISIS is all right with me, ISIS has been contained, oh yes. ISIS is just all right with me, ISIS the JV team.
Rather than question the tastefulness, or lack thereof, in such a song at a time like this, Wallace helped legitimize it and Limbaugh’s “secret Muslim” dog whistle.
WALLACE: You were rocking along as we were playing it. I know it’s a parody, but I’m sure one with a point. What are you saying about President Obama’s strategy toward ISIS?
Not surprisingly, Limbaugh didn’t need any more prompting.
LIMBAUGH: I don’t think he’s got a strategy that deals with ISIS. I think Obama’s strategy—best I’ve been able to learn, and I’ve looked really hard at this—it seems to me that Obama is linked to Iran and Syria in this. The sectarian violence throughout the Middle East is his excuse for not doing anything about it. Iran capitalizes on all of this chaos and crisis.
Chris, look, I don’t like saying any of this, but it’s obvious Obama is very sensitive to Iran’s needs and is trying to satisfy them. We have lifted the sanctions. They’ve got $150 billion they didn’t have. They are on the way to get a nuclear weapon, all because of Barack Hussein O, and I think his dealing with ISIS is inept, and incompetent, and nonexistent.
Wallace suggested Limbaugh, not Obama, is the real ISIS foe
Supposedly neutral Wallace did not challenge Limbaugh's disrespect to our president. Instead, he gave even more credence to Limbaugh. “All right. So what would you do? How would you destroy ISIS?”
Why on earth should we care how Limbaugh “would” destroy ISIS? When he had the chance to serve in the military, Limbaugh claimed to have a physical impairment (probably a cyst on his behind) and avoided the draft. Not that Wallace mentioned that inconvenient fact of Limbaugh’s biography.
After we heard Limbaugh’s plan, he went back to suggesting Obama likes ISIS more than America.
LIMBAUGH: Barack Obama’s No. 1 enemy is the Republican Party, and the conservative movement. You see he gets animated, he does not need cue cards, he does not teleprompter when he starts ripping into them, but when you get ISIS on the board or anything in the Middle East, very cautious, very precise, very don’t want to offend them, don’t want to make them mad.
…I think it’s very dangerous. Chris, I think it’s really dangerous. I think the country is in more danger than people know
And how did Wallace respond to what would certainly be called treason 24/7 on Fox if any liberal said such a thing about a Republican president? He asked for more.
WALLACE: Let me pick up on that, because I know you were struck, like a lot of people were, by President Obama’s news conference at the G-20 summit in Turkey on Monday, in which he seemed to be more upset with Republicans who want to limit Syrian refugees coming into the country than he was with the ISIS terrorists who slaughtered people in Paris. Here is the president on both of those issues.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
OBAMA: The terrible events in Paris were obvious a terrible and sickening setback.
When I hear political leaders suggesting there would be a religious test? That’s shameful. That’s not American.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
WALLACE: Rush, what do you think is going on here?
LIMBAUGH: In that press conference, from those sound bites you just played, he also said that he doesn’t believe in all this sloganeering like providing leadership and winning. That’s not—the first time I heard him say that was in reference to Afghanistan in 2009. He said, yes, when I hear victory, talk of victory, I think of poor Hirohito being dragged onto the battleship Missouri to sign surrender papers. He’s not serious, Chris. There are legitimate questions about what and who he thinks pose threats to this country and who our real enemies are.
Wallace did not challenge Limbaugh claim he's not a racist (some of his best friends are Syrians!) but Obama's racism makes him want harm to the U.S.
LIMBAUGH: Look, I have friends who are Syrians. I play golf with them. They’re great people. This is not about that. It’s not about bigotry or racism or anti-ethnics or against certain nationalities. It’s about the defense and protection of the United States of America and our Constitution, which is what is the primary job of the president of the United States. And again, he just doesn’t seem to be oriented in that direction or interested in it.
It’s almost as though he thinks that we’ve committed all these crimes since our founding, unjust and immoral, and it’s time for payback, it’s time for us to find out what the rest of the world goes through every day. It’s time for us to bite the bullet. I think it’s really troubling. I’m having to bite my lip here what I really think. (inaudible).
WALLACE: Well, what do you really think?
Not mentioned in any of this “fair and balanced” interview? Limbaugh is in a downward spiral, losing radio stations, advertisers and ratings, much of it as a result of his vicious attacks on graduate student Sandra Fluke. There are rumblings that his earnings will be cut in 2016 when his $400 million radio deal expires.
Watch the interview that could have been scripted by Limbaugh’s press agent below, from the November 22 Fox News Sunday. (Excerpts from the interview, above, via the Fox News transcript.)
Limpballs is a foe of two things: prepubescent Dominican boys and all-you-can-eat buffet tables
.
Why, Kevin, if you bothered to click on the links in my post, you would have found exactly where I got that information from. That’s what links are for, in case you are one of Limbaugh’s geriatric listeners who don’t know how the internet works.
You, on the other hand, provided no links, no citations to back up your claim.
Yet you have the audacity to accuse liberals of “never bothering with facts because we lack the mental capacity to do so.”
Project much?
Pearson seems unaware of the facts. Limbaugh has in fact been losing radio stations. Here in Los Angeles, he was moved off the Clear Channel flagship, KFI and put on their secondary tier station, now renamed KEIB at the lower powered 1150AM broadcast. (This station only covers part of Los Angeles as opposed to KFI which can cover everywhere from Valencia down to Orange County) Limbaugh has also lost key stations in other cities. Only recently he was throwing a tantrum about not caring about having lost his WABC perch in New York, and that’s without noting that he’s been pulled off the air in other markets like Boston.
The market manager covering WIBC in Indianapolis publicly stated that they pulled Limbaugh off the air because several national sponsors will not consent to have their ads on during his program. (This is also most likely the reason why Clear Channel bumped Limbaugh to the lesser station in Los Angeles.)
There is no evidence that all the sponsors “begged” to be taken back by Limbaugh – other than Limbaugh’s people insisting that it happened. David Friend at Carbonite certainly didn’t. He was unapologetic about it months after the fact, even though right wingers tried to spin the situation the other way around. (Carbonite lost some revenue due to their principled choice to walk away from Limbaugh – that revenue drop, as Friend noted at the time, was due to their needing to find other national programming to replace Limbaugh, not due to Limbaugh being the key to their future.)
And let’s look at who’s been advertising on his shows since he attacked Fluke – Hillsdale College? Tax Defense Partners? Time Share Exit Team? Really? These guys outbid all the other legitimate advertisers that could have come on board? Time Share Exit Team has more funding than Sleep Number? Does Kevin Pearson believe that people don’t notice this stuff? (It’s almost funnier to listen to who advertises on Glenn Beck’s shows – Goldline??? And we should note that the station Limbaugh was demoted to in Los Angeles is the one that carries Beck.)
The reality for Limbaugh is that he’s a long way from his heyday of attacking Bill Clinton every day. His response to that fall has been an increasing stream of nasty personal attacks, each of which has damaged his reputation and made advertisers less interested in dealing with him. In the last ten years alone, he has been caught mocking Michael J. Fox’s Parkinson’s, insulting Iraq war veterans with whom he disagreed (by calling them “phony soldiers”), repeatedly attacking President Obama with comments like “I Hope He Fails!!!” and of course, trying to slime Sandra Fluke. These aren’t the actions of someone who believes they’re on top of the world – these are clearly desperate plays for attention.
Limbaugh has good reason to be concerned about the impending expiration of his current deal next year. It is unlikely he will be getting anything like that with the new deal.
The psychos on this side of the Atlantic Obama is used to.
I can’t see Rush’s audience of geriatrics and those who busy their spare time by pulling wings off flies as being very lucrative.
Irrelevant. None of that changes the fact that Rush Limbaugh appeals to man’s lower instincts, ignorance.
“ISIS is just alright with me
ISIS has been contained OH YEAH”
