Fox News Publishes Real Name, Location Of Navy SEAL Author Of Bin Laden Book

No, I’m sorry, there is no clever spin, no witty way to put this - Fox News actually outed the real name and location of a Navy SEAL Team Six member who participated in the killing of Osama Bin Laden. To make matters worse, the point of Fox’s article doing so is the supposed concern for national security information divulged by the publication of the SEAL’s pseudonymous book. The hypocrisy is so overwhelming that you'd better get a bucket.

According to the Washington Post, the SEAL's book was not vetted before publication.

“As far as we can determine, this book was not submitted for pre-publication review,” said CIA spokesman Preston Golson.

Pentagon spokesman George Little said he was “unaware that anyone in the department has reviewed it.”

White House officials said they knew nothing of the book.

“We learned about this book today from press reports,” said Tommy Vietor, spokesman for the National Security Council. “We haven’t reviewed it and don’t know what it says.”

The Post also suggests that legal action might be taken to halt the book’s publication.

Enter Fox News which, by the way, has been enthusiastically promoting the OPSEC group that’s demonizing Obama for his supposed carelessness with national security secrets. FoxNews.com's Justin Fishel wrote:

“The book, “No Easy Day: The Firsthand Account of the Mission That Killed Osama Bin Laden,” is set to hit shelves on Sept 11. It is penned under the pseudonym “Mark Owen,” according to the publisher, but multiple sources told Fox News his name is in fact [Name withheld on Newshounds], 36, of [location withheld on Newshounds] could be exposing himself to legal trouble, as the Pentagon has not vetted the account.”

The tell-all book also has apparently upset a large population of former and current SEAL members who worry about releasing information that could compromise future missions. One Navy SEAL told Fox News, “How do we tell our guys to stay quiet when this guy won’t?” Other SEALs are expressing anger, with some going so far as to call him a “traitor.”

So Fox fingered a man who is undoubtedly the target of some of our most dangerous enemies, one who has outraged some of his fellow SEALs, and given away exactly where to go and who to ask for! CNN reported: A senior Pentagon official said Fox News did not contact the Department of Defense ahead of revealing the author’s name.

Pardon my French, but WHAT THE FUCK?! Agreed, the book shouldn’t be published if it crosses any confidentiality lines, but how is deliberately endangering the author – one who has been a hero for our country – any kind of response?

What’s next for the people Fox News targets? Publishing home addresses? Passing out phone numbers? Telling people where to find them after hours if they’re not home? Hey, why not leave a sniper rifle in the bushes and leave a map of vantage points while they’re at it?

A reminder: we can’t allow any talk of committing violence of any kind, even if you’re just joking.

If FOX is releasing this person’s name and particulars, they are only doing it to somehow damage the President. Obviously the book must be supportive of President Obama in some way for FOX to do this.

These FOXbots are beyond disgusting. They are so filled with hate for the President that any pretense of patriotism is laughable.

“Outed”? Is he gay? What’s his real agenda?

This reminds me of when Scooter Libby fell on the sword to protect Dick Cheney over the deliberate outing of CIA agent Valerie Plame to punish her husband’s Joe Wilson criticism of the Bush administrations run-up to sell and justify to the public the war in Iraq.

1. It was very wrong for this guy to write this book.

2. From the Fox reaction, I suspect that this guy’s account says nothing bad about Obama. If it was critical of the president, they’d be treating him as a hero.

3. Cue the claims that Obama paid this guy to ‘out’ the operation.
