Not surprisingly, we found some Fox News outrageousness over the Fort Hood shootings. But we also found endorsements of torture, talk of violence against Mayor Bill de Blasio, another racial attack on Rep. Barbara Lee and some gratuitous smears of immigrants and feminists. All in a week’s work of cataloging the “fair and balanced!” But now it’s your turn, dear readers, to cull through these quotes and help determine which was THE most outrageous quote of the week!
The nominees are:
Lars Larson, debating Leslie Marshall over the news that some undocumented immigrants with criminal records have been released by the Obama administration: “I know Leslie needs somebody to come mow her lawn but the fact is that we can’t be releasing these people.”
Deroy Murdock, complaining about a classified Senate Intelligence Committee report that criticized the CIA's abusive interrogation practices: “I think they’d be a lot more forgiving of these patriotic Americans who got this information out.”
Jonathan Gilliam, discussing the Fort Hood shootings: “Why is it that we’re not spending more tax dollars on veterans and their families welfare than we are on the welfare for people in this country who do nothing to earn their citizenship? Nothing!”
Allen West, discussing the Fort Hood shootings and suggesting they happened because of President Obama’s handling of Russia and Crimea: “I believe also we have a civilian leadership that does not want to recognize that the enemy exists. You know, you look at what is happening in the Crimea when the president says that Vladimir Putin is “operating from a position of weakness.” So if you don’t want to admit that there’s evil, if you don’t want to admit that there’s an enemy, then you don’t have the right type of security protocols in place.”
Bill O’Reilly, continuing his race war against Rep. Barbara Lee: "We invited Congresswoman Lee on The Factor and she declined. She doesn’t want to engage in serious dialogue about serious problems, this woman. Her California district is heavily black and she sees her job as getting as much taxpayer money to her constituents as possible and portraying them as victims of a white-dominated power structure. Ms. Lee’s been doing this for 16 years. That’s what she does! …And it’s not going to stop anytime soon."
Bill O’Reilly and Brian Kilmeade, discussing New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio:
O’Reilly: I want to beat him up.
Kilmeade: Give him a little Levittown!
Dana Loesch, complaining about the intolerance of some women who did not want to speak to a conservative reporter at a feminists’ conference: “I’m not even sure what this feminist conference was about, exactly …other than to raise up the next generation of women into old cat ladies… It was like watching Mean Girls with less attractive women.”
