I was unable to post the Fox News Outrageous Quote of the Week poll yesterday but better late than never, I hope. As usual, we have a rich assortment of quotes. The theme for the week seems to be sanctimoniousness. Senator Ted Cruz likened himself to Winston Churchill, Sarah Palin held herself up as too good a mother to run for public office and Ted Starnes thinks the Miss America pageant isn't American enough. All that and several more for you to consider and vote for after the jump!
And the nominees are...
Business expert Wayne Rogers showing off his national security chops about the D.C. Navy Yard shooting:
The government is too big. We know that. You’ve got eight zillion agencies all falling all over themselves trying to do some kind of a job that they cannot do, they’re ill equipped to do, they snoop on each other, we know that. The head of the IRS snooping on us innocent citizens, and the people who are running the IRS don’t know any better. …Look at the amount of fraud, for example, that’s in the disability payments, over $1.4 billion dollars. I mean these are people who are inept, who are dumb, who are stupid, and we’ve got them all in the government. …Start all over.
Todd Starnes griping that the Miss America pageant isn’t American enough: “The liberal Miss America judges won’t say this - but Miss Kansas lost because she actually represented American values.”
Gregg Jarrett, suggesting that people on welfare are living high on the hog. “Sitting on the couch eating bonbons is now more financially lucrative” than working.
Ted Cruz, likening his crusade against Obamacare to Winston Churchill fighting the Nazis: “As Churchill said, we will fight on the beaches, we will fight on the streets, we will fight at every step to stop the biggest job killer in America.”
Bill Cunningham attacking Tamara Holder after she defended President Obama’s stance on raising the debt ceiling: “People of your ilk, basically, are going to ruin this country. …People like you are helping to destroy this country, physically. Grow up!”
“Fair and balanced” host Greta Van Susteren urging Republican Congressman Jim Jordan to pursue former Obama administration Timothy Geithner more aggressively over the IRS scandal: “Subpoena Geithner. …Will the Speaker go with subpoenaing him? And you ask him why he didn’t say it before? …I would actually comb his prior testimony to see if he should have answered that question specifically… under oath.”
Congressman Marlin Stutzman pretending that Americans support a Republican measure that funds the government only if Obamacare is defunded: “This was a huge victory for the American people today. The House stood up with the American people and is defunding Obamacare.”
Dr. Marc Siegel, worrying that if Obamacare is fully implemented, people will get too much medical care. “Studies show that people use the emergency room unnecessarily when they have that kind of insurance. So we’re clogging the ER’s with people who don’t need to be there. The hospital is making less. ER’s are shrinking. …So the people who have heart attacks, really need to get taken care of, can’t get in to be seen because the ER’s are clogged with people with insurance.”
Sarah Palin, explaining the noble reason why she’s reluctant to run for senator. “I think it really takes someone who has the stomach for - the patience necessary to live and delve in that cesspool that is Washington D.C., is quite corrupt. I have young children and I want to keep them nice and pure, if you will, and Washington, D.C. would be a very tough environment for them, I will tell you honestly.”
