Once again, our candidates of outrageousness include comments about missing Malaysian jet Flight #370. But this week we also have Rupert Murdoch again, now angry about Guinness’ withdrawal from the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. We’ve also got Bill O’Reilly’s “advice” to Angelina Jolie on how to be a more effective activist. And more. I’m a bit late with our weekly poll but I think you’ll find the wait has been worth it. So dust off your thinking caps and cast your vote for the Fox News Outrageous Quote of the Week.
This week’s nominees are:
Rupert Murdoch sticking his nose into U.S. and Irish politics with this tweet about the St. Patrick’s Day Parade: “Where will this end? Guinness pulls out of religious parade bullied by gay orgs who try to take it over. Hope all Irish boycott the stuff.”
Ralph Reed fear mongering the contraception mandate in the Affordable Care Act, describing it as “forcing religious charities to adopt health care services that violate their religion, assault their faith, and do injustice to their conscience.”
Fox Nation reader, in a comment that’s still there, five days later: “I want to kill (Attorney General) Holder.”
Bill Hemmer, “(I)t took us 100 years to find the Titanic. It took us 2,000 years to find Noah’s Ark. Do we ever find flight 370?”
Fox News “Medical A-Team” contributor Dr. Manny Alvarez, “explaining” the purpose of the Affordable Care Act: “We did it for nothing. We did it to confuse America. We did it to create a false tax. We did it to create an environment of punitive damages to people that don’t follow what the federal government tells them to do.”
Andrea Tantaros, so deeply moved by the families of the missing passengers of Malaysian Flight #370, that she just couldn’t help but think of Benghazi: “(W)atching the footage of that Malaysian woman that was being played over and over last night, it’s just so sad. But think how long it took for them to get this kind of media attention? I mean, living in Malaysia, the government seemingly ignored these people. They didn’t want their stories out. They weren’t talking to them. …You see the cameras rolling. They were saying, “No one has come to my house. No one has told me what has happened. …Feels like the families of Benghazi. Just saying.”
Bill O’Reilly, explaining why he doesn’t think that Angelina Jolie’s activism is enough to warrant her inclusion on a list of top world leaders: “I do not believe Angelina Jolie is getting her message across as effectively as she could if she went on your program, my program, and everybody else’s (on Fox News) program. But that would devalue her movie star status. That makes me question this.”
