On the Cavuto on Business show, most of the talking heads defended their own climate denying by attacking EPA Secretary Gina McCarthy for saying that “normal human beings” accept the science of climate change.
Neil Cavuto reacted to a clip of McCarthy by yelling, “Which would make me a freakin’ lunatic! Are you kidding me? So you don’t go along with the climate change thing, you’re not normal!” He showed pictures of magazines warning of global cooling 40 years ago to back up his skepticism.
Ben Stein made fun of McCarthy’s appearance. “I think it’s extremely serious for this woman who, by the way, doesn’t look at all normal to me, to be describing people who disagree with her as not normal,” he said. He also insisted, “The science of this is not at all clear. There are extremely distinguished climatologists in the world, more distinguished than Madame who was just speaking for the EPA, who say that global warming is not really happening, and whatever is happening, not manmade. “
Charles Gasparino laughed at the reference, then said “That woman was a freak, that’s all I’m gonna say.”
Stein clapped.
Cavuto, smiling, said, “We don’t want to go to that same level. We don’t respond to this by getting to that level.”
“The science isn’t settled,” Gasparino continued.
Charles Payne called it “ridiculous” to say the science is settled.
Julie Roginsky provided the voice of reason “It’s settled by about 99% of the world’s climate scientists,” she said.
Gasparino retorted, “You’re not normal, Julie!”
But on Fox News’ own website, there’s an article called, “Climate change health risk is a ‘medical emergency’, experts warn.” Not only does it accept climate change as a given, the article begins with the following sentence: “The threat to human health from climate change is so great that it could undermine the last 50 years of gains in development and global health, experts warned on Tuesday.”
There’s nothing in the June 23, 2015 article about “extremely distinguished climatologists” saying that the science is not clear or that climate change is not happening.
Watch the talking heads pretend otherwise below, from the June 29 Cavuto on Business.
