In 2007, our friends at Brave New Films put together a video showing Fox News' push for war with Iran. On Friday, they reminded us that nothing much has changed.
The video below was part of a Fox Attacks series that Brave New Films put together in 2007 as an outgrowth of their landmark video, Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism. We at NewsHounds helped them with the research for that documentary and the later series.
What's also striking is how Fox is using the same rhetoric it used to gin up support for the war in Iraq to gin up a new war with Iran.
So it was no surprise to me when I wake up to a survey 43% of Republicans could support a military coup. I’m sure it’s purely coincidental Fox News is in a constant lather raging hysteria Obama is destroying America. Equally coincidental the NRA picked “Fox & Friends” for a commercial on the importance a heavily armed America to keep us free. Or maybe not.
Fear-mongering is what Fox News is. To see how effective it is look at their Frankenstein: Donald Trump. He can’t articulate any solutions but The Donald can press the button marked “Outrage” to get the Fox News fanboy crowd to swoon on demand. Archie Bunker should sue Trump for plagiarism.
This video is critical in understanding Fox News fear-mongering and bogeyman building is a fundamental building block of their brand.
