Bill O'Reilly Wants Caroline Kennedy Excommunicated?

Posted by Priscilla -26.60pc on September 16, 2012 · Flag

Bill O'Reilly is routinely pissed off about those who don't subscribe to his antiquated views which seem to involve nostalgia for the good old days when minorities "knew their place," gays were in the closet, women were confined to the kitchen, and dad was able to get away with sexually harassing the female office help. And when Bill gets really pissed off, he obsesses on the targets of his wrath. Thus, Sandra Fluke is being treated to an ongoing bombardment of personal attacks on both Bill's TV show and in his column. But while O'Reilly isn't focusing the same kind of wrath against Caroline Kennedy as he's doing with Fluke, Ms. Kennedy really pissed him off with her Democratic Convention speech about how she, as a Catholic woman, supports reproductive rights. O'Reilly ranted about it to Karl Rove, mentioned it to his new fellow sexist wing-man, Adam Carolla, and is now writing about it in his column which shows just how pissed off O'Reilly is - and not entirely with Ms. Kennedy but with his beloved Catholic Church. He also gets "scientific" about why abortion is bad.

As the product 50's parochial school indoctrination education, O'Reilly is a firm believer in punishment for those who, in his mind, trespass which, coincidentally, is the name of one of his fictional oeuvre, "Those Who Trespass" in which the hero's sexual proclivities suggest that he is just a fictional version of Bill!  In Bill's mind (such as it is), Kennedy, like Fluke, needs to be punished. He says Ms. Kennedy's speech is an insult to to Catholicism. But for Bill, what really pisses him off is the "silence" of the bishops who "supposedly have a moral obligation to define their beliefs and stand up for what they consider God's will." He then expresses the hope that the Church will be "adamant" in stating a case against Ms. Kennedy. (Hmmm, do I detect some cynicism about one of Bill's treasured institutions?)

O'Reilly also managed to work in a reference to the "fabricated war on women" as well as a statement on why abortion is wrong: "Abortion eliminates life. That's what the procedure does. Human DNA is present upon conception."

So there you have it. Caroline Kennedy is a disgrace to Catholics and should be issued with some kind of Papal bull informing her that she's persona non grata.  Oh, and zygotes are people, too. Not only is Bill O'Reilly a great Catholic role model; but his theological acumen is truly deep. Too bad for him that the Catholic bishops don't appear to be heeding the message!

Bill seem to think Christianity’s main focus revolves heavily around sex and-giving birth— sort of a patriarchal fertility cult where a man can plant his seed and expect it to grow no matter what. You’d think from listening to Bill that Christianity is pretty much a religion about who can have sex and who can’t, and about what to do with those who are having sex without Christian approval. It is tedious and Puritanical. Bills obsession with sex related matters is embarrassingly adolescent. Thankfully the Catholic Church outside the US is much more mature.

I’m very proud of my grandmother who – at age 84 and after a lifetime of attending daily 6 am mass (1905 to 1980), rain or shine, heat or cold – said: “The Pope is a man: he doesn’t know what it means to have so many children.”

Another one of my favourite quips that never fails to rile up the bigots: "Considering that so many fertilised eggs (don’t remember the percentage) don’t make it to full term (it’s called “natural abortion”), the biggest abortionist has got to be … God.

St. Thomas Aquinus and other fathers of the Catholic Church had decided that life began when the fetus started moving in the womb, more or less around the third month.

It’s amazing how people with less scientific knowledge actually had a better grasp on reality than Bill O’Reilly. Oh wait, didn’t he say something particularly foolish about the tides?

O’Reilly should research the right of “internal forum”.
