Donald Trump has been caught using fake statistics to smear black people but Bill O’Reilly wants to help him out of the jam because he “never saw any racism” from Trump and “I look out for every honest politician.”
Trump lies so often there’s not a single rating of “True” from PolitiFact about any of his statements. That does include some of Trump’s preposterous lies about President Obama’s birth certificate.
Nevertheless, O’Reilly tried to help Trump play the liberal-media victim after he tweeted a bogus table of statistics portraying blacks as murderers.
From Media Matters’ transcript:
O’REILLY (HOST): Are you aware that the liberal media and the Democratic Party in general are trying to paint you as a racist? Are you aware of that?
TRUMP: I think so. But I think people know better than that. I’m probably the least racist person on Earth.
O’REILLY: Well I have known you a long time—
TRUMP: I think people know better than that.
O’REILLY: -- I never saw any racism from you. However, when you tweet out a thing, and this bothered me, I got to tell you. You tweeted out that whites killed by blacks—these are statistics you picked up from somewhere—at a rate of 81 percent. And that’s totally wrong. Whites killed by blacks is 15 percent, yet you tweeted it was 81 percent.
As Media Matters noted, O’Reilly’s claim never to have seen racism from Trump is at odds with the tweet that O’Reilly was citing. But I believe that O’Reilly was not at all concerned about the obvious racist intent behind Trump’s tweet so much as O’Reilly was concerned with how it was being (mis)construed by the so-called “liberal media.”
But even by that low bar, Trump failed.
TRUMP: Bill, I didn’t tweet. I retweeted somebody that was supposedly an expert and also a radio show.
O’REILLY: Yeah, but you don’t want to be—why do you want to be in that zone?
TRUMP: Bill. Bill. Am I going to check every statistic? I get millions and millions of people @realdonaldtrump by the way.
O’REILLY: You got to. You are a presidential contender you got to check it.
TRUMP: I have millions of people. You know what, fine, but this came out of radio shows and everything else.
O’REILLY: Oh come on, radio shows?
TRUMP: Excuse me. All it was is a retweet. It wasn’t from me. And it did. It came out of radio show and other places, because you see all the names –
But as Think Progress pointed out, the retweet did not come from a radio show, but from an anonymous Twitter user named @SeanSean252, with no apparent expertise in anything other than hating those who are not conservative enough for him.
The radio show Trump referenced, The Wayne Dupree Show, had nothing to do with the tweet. @WayneDupreeShow was simply tagged in @SeanSean252’s original tweet along with Trump. … The graphic actually originated from a neo-Nazi on Twitter.
So, we have a presidential candidate willing to tweet out any old anti-African American internet meme, without bothering to check its accuracy, and sees no reason why he should. And the only reason that matters to O’Reilly is because liberals will (wrongly) use this against the noble Trump.
O’REILLY: Look, you know I’m looking out for you, right? You know that? That I’m looking out for you? I look out for every honest politician, I don’t care what party they are in. Don’t do this. Don’t put your name on stuff like this. Because it makes the other side, it gives them stuff to tell the ill-informed voter that you are a racist. I mean, you just handed them a platter.
Meanwhile, also over the weekend, Trump supporters beat up a #BlackLivesMatter protester at a Trump campaign event. On Sunday, Trump announced, on Fox News, that the protester “should have been roughed up.” He got a pass from the Fox & Friends hosts when he said that. O’Reilly didn’t even mention it.
Watch it below, from the November 23 The O’Reilly Factor.

Except for Rush. He pulls his facts straight out of his ass.
Grab that popcorn the second half of the show will be brutal.
I realize that BOR and Trump are friends (such as hanging out together at Yankees’ games) but how BOR can not see the racism in some of Trump’s remarks and tweets just proves that BOR is being deliberately obtuse in order to protect his buddy, the GOP front runner.
What this comes down to is 2 things: 1) BOR hates it that Trump gave the so-called “liberal media” an easy one to fact check and find false. If BOR was an honest broker and a “fair & balanced” analyst, he should be glad that Trump is being called out by the media for using dishonest stats. But, nah, he’s more upset that “liberal media” have been given yet another example of what a liar and racist The Donald has turned out to be.
Sorry, BOR, but facts do matter so the real question is why are YOU “looking out for” a guy who has no problem lying to the citizens? You say that you “look out for” honest politicians – well, Trump is NOT honest so quit trying to prop up your buddy when he totally steps in it and then doubles down on his deceit.
2) BOR knows that Trump’s behavior is hurting the GOP brand and BOR doesn’t want his/his network’s preferred political party to go down in defeat to Hillary (because their front runner is playing to the right-wing base by highlighting his racist tendencies). BOR desperately tried to rehab the situation but Trump still came out looking like an ass. And, I might add, so does BOR for continuing to “look out for” the likes of dishonest hacks like Trump.
And, finally, does anyone else find it hilarious that BOR has the gall to tell someone else that they have to fact check? Bwaaah!
