Does Greg Gutfeld Think Obama Was Re-Elected Because People Were Afraid Of Being Called Racist?

In a debate with Alan Colmes tonight about race and politics, Greg Gutfeld said Obama was re-elected because the Democratic “strategy of accusing anybody of being a leftist scares a lot of people.” I believe Gutfeld meant to say that being accused of being a racist scares a lot of  people.

If you turned on Fox at all today, you probably saw a lot of concern trolling and even Democratic hand wringing over Sen. Mary Landrieu’s recent comments about race and gender. But good on Alan Colmes for fighting back, attacking the meme and leaving his conservative debate partner unable to respond beyond accusing him of not sticking to the topic.

The discussion occurred on The O’Reilly Factor tonight. Substitute host Greg Gutfeld played the clip of Landrieu saying, “I’ll be very, very honest with you. The South has not always been the friendliest place for African-Americans. It’s been a difficult time for the president to present himself in a very positive light as a leader. It’s not always been a good place for women to be able to present ourselves. It’s more of a conservative place. So we’ve had to work a little bit harder on that.”

“Is this just more evidence that liberals are desperate?” Gutfeld asked as his opening question. Just in case you thought he might be a neutral voice in the No Spin Zone.

The question was addressed to conservative African American Deneen Borelli. Every single time I see Borelli on Fox, she’s obviously been chosen to shoot down civil rights concerns and anyone who has them. Does she so zealously love the role that she doesn’t care how insulting this is?

Whatever the reason, Borelli jumped into the task with her usual enthusiasm. She instantly condemned Landrieu as “shameless” and “desperate” and called her comments “a reckless move on anyone’s part to play the race card.”

But rather than the usual Democratic, milquetoast-y “I wouldn’t have used those words but…” kind of defense that most Fox News Democrats would have employed, Colmes was unapologetic. And he turned the tables.

You know what they do? This is – when liberals point out racism, they get accused of being racists. This is right out of the handbook of Saul Alinsky. This is right out of Rules for Radicals: You accuse the other side of what you’re guilty of. That’s exactly what’s happening here.

The discussion went on in a “fair and balanced” debate of Gutfeld and Borelli against Colmes. Near the end, Gutfeld called Obama “incompetent, arrogant, aloof and a failure.”

Colmes shot back, “How did he get re-elected?”

Here’s Gutfeld’s complete response. “I’ll tell you why. Because your strategy… the strategy of accusing anybody of being a leftist scares a lot of people. So they re-elect him. That’s it.”

Colmes said the real reason is because “There aren’t enough votes to nationally elect Republicans” because they’ve lost the black, Hispanic and women votes.

Nicely done, Alan.

It’s very easy, Georges: The truth tends to have a liberal bias and conservatives hate that.

How is Mary Landrieu stating an historical truth the evidence of liberal desperation ?
