FOX News Overstates Number Of Violent Protesters At Republican Convention
Sean Hannity falsely announced on last night’s (9/1/08) Hannity & Colmes that “thousands of violent anti-war protesters descended on the site of the Republican National Convention earlier today assaulting police officers, breaking windows and throwing bottles at convention goers.” But moments later, even Newt Gingrich noted that the number was much lower and that the vast majority of the protesters were not violent. Italian Documentary: American Soldiers from Iraq Claim We Used White Phosphorus in Fallujah
Although those of us who monitor such things on the internet are not at all surprised by this news, apparently most of the rest of America doesn't realize that we Americans have violated international law by dropping weaponized white phosphorus on the city of Fallujah. Yesterday RAINews of Italy aired a documentary exposing American use of such weapons in Fallujah. You can see the English version of the video at RAINews. I was listening to Jerry Springer this morning on Air America and, when he made note of this documentary, a man called in claiming to have been an American soldier and said he had loaded "weaponized white phosphorus" onto planes in Uzbekistan. I owe thanks to Democracy Now for posting this video, which shows some very graphic and disturbing images. You might remember Italian journalist Giuliana Sgrena whose car was "accidentally" attacked by Americans on her way to the Baghdad airport. She was reporting on this story. It will be interesting to see how FOX News dances its way around this one!
