Colbert Report - Stephen Colbert

Does Stephen Colbert Read News Hounds?

When I read Priscilla’s post yesterday “Bill O'Reilly's Book Went Down In Flames!” about a soldier in Afghanistan burning complimentary copies of “Pinheads and Patriots,” I knew it would only be a matter of time before Stephen Colbert, of The Colbert Report, would come to Papa Bear’s defense. Especially after Priscilla said, “At any rate, it's too bad that the soldiers couldn't have used the pages for toilet paper which would be appropriate given that the stuff on the paper is pulled from Bill's ass!” Leave it to Colbert to try and put Priscilla’s words in the best possible light when he spun one for The No Spin Zone: “First of all, soldier, there are plenty of ways Papa Bear's books can be useful on the front lines. You can use them as sand bags, or as armor for a Humvee, or, you know you guys always need toilet paper. I'm sure Bill would be honored.”

Stephen Colbert Rips Steve Harrigan

The incomparable Stephen Colbert offers his take on the feud between CNN and Fox News' Steve Harrigan - especially with regard to Harrigan's laughable claim that he covers Libya from his hotel room. Some funny stuff for a Friday afternoon!

Fox “News” Insults 400 Rabbis, Calls Them Soros Puppets

There seems to be a growing consensus that heated political rhetoric using Nazi and Holocaust allusions to denigrate and demean political opponents is not kosher. That’s why I am uncomfortable calling Fox “News” the Nazi Network, but there it is. In my entire 58.5 years I have never heard as many references to Nazis and the Holocaust as I have on just one so-called news network—going all the way back to the days when I was called a “Christ killer” and “kike” while walking past Immaculate Heart of Mary School (now the Michigan Technical Academy), which I had to do daily to get to Bow Elementary School, as they were directly across the street from each other. Yet, if it’s not Glenn Beck or Bill O’Reilly making the Nazi comparisons, it’s Megyn Kelly denying that there are Nazi comparisons on Fox, or Loofah Lad O’Reilly defending his right to use Nazi imagery, or Roger Ailes saying that it’s only “left-wing” rabbis who get upset at these comparisons and also comparing NPR to Nazis (for which he later apologized). That’s why it was interesting to see the response of Fox “News” to the open letter to Rupert Murdock yesterday (01-27-11), signed by 400 rabbis, calling on the Nazi Network to rein in Glenn Beck and Roger Ailes on their Nazi and Holocaust rhetoric. While it was a no-brainer that the response would be swift and dismissive, what was unexpected was that the terse 28-word statement circled back to Beck’s original claim that George Soros is “The Puppet Master” and insulted the 400 rabbis who signed the open letter as just more of Soros’ unthinking, unwitting puppets.

In Responding To Colbert, Bill O’Reilly Reveals He Worries That Largesse Will Be Wasted On The Poor

Now that the brouhaha over his appearance on The View has died down, Bill O’Reilly is now obsessing about Stephen Colbert mocking him about Jesus and helping the poor. O’Reilly spent at least three segments discussing it on The O’Reilly Factor last night (12/20/10), including his Talking Points Commentary. In defending his stance, O’Reilly made it pretty darned clear that he thinks the poor are likely to be squanderers.

Cee-Lo and Colbert: F*** You to Fox News

Now, they didn't exactly say "F*** you" to Fox News - though it wouldn't be a huge stretch to imagine that was the intention when Cee-Lo appeared on Colbert's show last night. What Stephen Colbert suggested to R+B star Cee-Lo Green was that he change "F**k you" to "Fox News" every time the F-bomb occurs in the singer's massive hit single, titled - yep, you guessed it - "F**k You." They also composed some new lyrics about Fox News to mark the occasion. Everybody sing along! Video and new lyrics after the jump.
