As they discussed the effect of Superstorm Sandy’s effect on the upcoming election yesterday, Fox News contributor Tucker Carlson argued that Sandy would hurt President Obama on many levels. First, he said that natural disasters tend to hurt more than they help candidates. Then, he added, “Typically people don’t blame the candidate for, any candidate, for the storm itself. Although one of these candidates did promise to lower the level of the ocean and obviously that didn’t work.” (H/T Eric J.)
Special Report host Bret Baier sneered that President Clinton “has a problem with that.” He was presumably referring to Clinton attacking Romney for also ridiculing Obama’s statement. Clinton said, “In my part of America, we would like it if someone could’ve done that yesterday.”
Carlson went on to say, “I’m in no sense suggesting that people are rationally going to conclude that Obama is responsible for the hurricane, of course not.” However he added that, “the fact that there’s a hurricane and ugly pictures on television will add to the cumulative effect that America’s not going in the right direction.”
Do you think Fox pundits ridiculed President Bush during Hurricane Katrina? Three guesses.
That’s Rush Limbaugh’s bit. I haven’t been able to catch much of him this week, but I don’t think he brought it back for Sandy.
As for Carlson, this is a case for my argument that she’s actually the stupidest of the three. In terms of measurable IQ, education, EQ… she’s one of the smartest people on the network. Her pre-Fox work is a testament to that.
But I run on the whole fool/fool who follows them dynamic. She wants to look dumber than the other two. She wants to look subserviant by always following their lead. She wants to advance cutting off her nose to spite her face. She wears how she’s perceived with pride. And that makes her the second stupidest woman in the free world (after Megyn Kelly) in my opinion.
I got nothing on the story itself- it’s beyond typical for Fox News to run this crap at every turn. But I had to get that out about Carlson, because I was about ready to pop holding it back on her.
