Fox’s Bob Beckel proved yesterday just what kind of liberal he is when The Five discussed a video of a woman who walked around New York City as a hidden camera captured catcalls, whistles and more frightening harassment.
In case you missed it, the video is a PSA from Hollaback!, made to highlight street harassment. It was no big surprise that the other men on The Five defended the behavior.
After airing some of the Hollaback! video, co-host Eric Bolling said, “Look, I’m not gonna condone it but I will tell you, nothing was disrespectful there.” He said about the catcalls, “They were very complimentary. She may not have wanted it but I find it hard to find where there’s what she calls verbal harassment going on.”
Dana Perino said drily, “I guess verbal harassment is in the ear of the beholder.”
“Tell that to Van Gogh,” Greg Gutfeld “quipped.” He later said about the catcalling, “It’s their bar and she’s walking through it. It seems a bit – I don’t know… If these guys were in a bar or supermarket, she probably wouldn’t feel the same way.”
But Fox News “liberal” Bob Beckel went out of his way to pile on. He said, “She got a hundred catcalls. Let me add 101. Damn, baby, you’re a piece of woman. …She’s a good-looking babe. Wouldn’t you say something?”
So even when Fox includes one supposed liberal on a show where the other four co-hosts are conservative, this is the kind of “liberal advocacy” we get. Beckel has his moments when he truly advocates for liberals but he seems to make a point of back stabbing them, too.
By the way, just last month, the women co-hosts of Outnumbered talked up catcalls, too.
