Fox & Friends Attacks Vanderbilt For "Clamping Down On Religious Freedom"

Posted by Priscilla · February 04, 2012 2:09 PM · 1 reaction

Perhaps the biggest bogus meme of the Christian right is that their religious freedom is under attack by forces of evil, secular "political correctness." As their mouthpiece, Fox News is doing all they can to aid and abet. Earlier this week, uber Christian warrior Gretchen Carlson presented the sixth in a string of Fox & Friends attacks on Vanderbilt which focused on what is seen as an "assault on religious liberty by - you guessed it - "political correctness." The policy was put in place after a gay student was ousted from a Christian group's leadership because he was gay. So far, that hasn't been mentioned on Fox & Friends who, today, had their sixth installment in their Vanderbilt hates Christians series during which a Christian Republican student got to whine about the policy. However, unlike anything done by Gretchen Carlson, atheists weren't mentioned.

Newt Gingrich Suggests Obama Is A Muslim-Appeasing Traitor

Posted by Ellen · February 04, 2012 11:42 AM · 6 reactions

Newt Gingrich visited the Hannity show last night where he predictably spewed venom against President Obama. But Gingrich outdid himself when he repeatedly suggested that Obama is a traitor who “appeases” our enemies - such as Iran and the Taliban - and double-crosses our allies and troops.

Donald Trump: We Don’t Really Know Where Obama Comes From

Posted by Ellen · February 04, 2012 1:53 AM · 11 reactions

Donald Trump revived his birther talk last night – egged on by Sean Hannity. On a Hannity show that was supposedly a forum for each of the Republican presidential candidates, Trump got the first half hour - while each of the participating candidates got just a few minutes in the second half of the show. It was as if even Hannity was acknowledging his lack of enthusiasm for the roster. And he made up for that with racially-tinged smears.

Your World Ignores Trump Hypocrisy Over Romney Endorsement

Posted by Brian · February 03, 2012 5:30 PM · 6 reactions

Your World joined the Fox News Trumpeters yesterday as it breathlessly discussed Donald Trump’s endorsement of Mitt Romney and pretended this was the big news that Trump pretended it was. Neil Cavuto interviewed Trump yesterday and called the endorsement, “a stunning, surprise announcement.” Cavuto asked, “Why Mitt Romney?”

Fox Nation Paints Allen West As The Victim

Posted by Ellen · February 03, 2012 1:16 PM · 6 reactions

“Civil,” “America-loving” Fox Nation (just pay no attention to all that talk about wanting to murder our president and other Democrats) is giving some love to Allen West’s hate-mongering rant – in which he said President Obama and other Democrats should “get the hell out of the United States” – again. The website that purports to believe in “strengthening our diverse society by striving for unity,” once again has quite an odd way of showing it.  This time, the website run by O’Reilly ambush producer Jesse Watters is painting West as the victim of anti-American liberals.

Breaking - Komen Reverses Decision & Apologizes

Posted by Priscilla · February 03, 2012 12:38 PM · 6 reactions

The Dallas Morning News reports that the Komen Foundation is reversing its earlier decision to stop funding cancer screenings at Planned Parenthood. This is after Fox "straight news" anchor Martha MacCallum said, during a discussion with "Concerned Woman for America" Penny Nance who supported the decision and a doctor who didn't, that "They're a private organization who should be able to spend their money as they see fit." Well, Martha, looks like those who care about women don't agree with you and we won!

Fox News Is PR Arm For US Council of Catholic Bishops?

Posted by Priscilla · February 03, 2012 12:12 PM · 1 reaction

The Fox News logo has the words "Fair& Balanced." However, their top brass, when challenged on their apparent lack of said qualities, claimed that the "opinion" shows, despite being part of the channel represented by the logo, are exempt from being "fair & balanced."  But when you have Fox "straight news" tag teaming with Fox opinion on a right wing issue that Roger Ailes wants communicated, you have a steaming pile of propaganda. Such is the case with Fox's promotion of the views of the Catholic Church regarding the mandate that they, as well as secular employers, provide free birth control to their workers under their health care plans. Fox & Friends has run seven segments promoting the church's position. Fox News has run four in which only one was "fair & balanced." And yesterday, "straight news" guy Bill Hemmer gave us the fifth report about this issue which featured yet another opponent of the policy as well as the Fox "fact" that "Plan B" is an "abortion pill." "Fair & balanced" at its finest!

Donald Trump Caught Lying About Romney – Then Lies Again To Cover It Up

Posted by Ellen · February 03, 2012 1:43 AM · 8 reactions

Predictably, Fox News made a big deal out of Donald Trump’s endorsement of Mitt Romney yesterday. Trump got more than 16 minutes at the opening of On The Record to discuss his endorsement without host Greta Van Susteren calling him out too much on his hypocrisy given that he has slammed Romney in the past. But that was nothing compared to the flippity-flopping that Trump did in the middle of the interview as first he gave Van Susteren one unlikely explanation for Romney having pulled out of the Trump debate and then, when confronted with an inconsistency about that explanation, told her he had not said what he had just said. Sadly, Van Susteren let him skate.

Irony Alert! Palin and O’Reilly Suddenly Bemoan the “Brutality” of Negative Campaigning

Posted by Margarita · February 02, 2012 9:00 PM · 5 reactions

Negative campaigning against Democrats: that’s Good, bring it on. But when Republicans turn attack ads on each other: all of a sudden, attack ads are BAD. And last night, Bill O’Reilly and Sarah Palin got kind of worried about them.

Michelle Malkin Claims Birth Control Mandate Is Really About Abortion

Posted by Priscilla · February 02, 2012 7:11 PM · 12 reactions

It’s no surprise that Sean Hannity and Michelle Malkin are soul siblings of hate. They are both conservative Catholics who would love to return to the days of a white, Christian America when minorities knew their place, gays were in the closet, the poor were invisible, and abortions were performed in back alleys. These were also the days when Catholic bishops wielded a lot of political clout. In the 21st century, their power is greatly diminished but that isn’t stopping them from challenging, on the basis of religious liberty, the Obama mandate about providing free birth control to their employees. Aiding them in their “war,” is Fox News whose seeming non-stop coverage of this “outrage” includes Sean Hannity who, last night, interviewed right wing America’s only acceptable “anchor baby,” Michelle Malkin, who provided her trademark torrent of rapid fire invective against Obama. I really do think she should lay off the caffeine; but then she wouldn’t be as much fun.
