Fox & Friends Plugs Anti-Abortion Movie "October Baby"
Fox News, as the news network for the right wing anti-abortion rights movement, is always willing to promote the memes and crusades of those who oppose women's reproductive rights. One of the more recent "pro-life" memes involves those who, supposedly, are abortion "survivors." They raise lots of money for the "pro-life" movement with their tales of how they, supposedly, were able, despite the best efforts of evil doctors and the wishes of evil women, to survive abortions. One such "survivor" told her tear jerking story to a very incredulous and sympathetic Shannon Bream in January. And now we have a tear jerking movie about an abortion survivor. Thus, it's no surprise that Saturday's Fox & Friends promoted the "faith based" (Christian, that is) "October Baby" as "a movie about the burden of hatred and the power of forgiveness." It's actually quite agenda driven; but so is Fox "News."
Read moreLooks Like Fox Nation Didn't Get The Latest Memo About The Chevy Volt
Ruh-roh! I reported earlier that Steve Doocy and the Fox & Friends graphics department embraced the Chevy Volt this morning as if they had loved the car all along. But it looks as though Fox Nation didn't get the memo. Its top "fired up" story is now More Problems For The Chevy Volt. Even worse, Fox Nation is reiterating talking points that were debunked just a few hours earlier on Fox News.
Read moreSteve Doocy Suddenly Loves The Chevy Volt
You can hardly watch a Fox News segment on energy without hearing a knock on the Chevy Volt, an electric vehicle, as some kind of example of the Obama administration run amok. But suddenly – and without explanation – Fox & Friends Steve Doocy couldn’t say enough good things about the car, now that a conservative PR guy was there talking it up.

Why is Johnny Dollar (real name: Mark Koldys) obsessed with me and this blog? For at least the third time, he’s got my photo posted on his site. He has two quotes from me on his “about” page and has made God knows how many tweets and other posts about me. He has been stuck on News Hounds pretty much from our beginnings in 2004. We banned him from posting here numerous times but that has not stopped him from poring over every word and semi-colon in the hope of pouncing on any possible misstatement or mistake and then trumpeting us as liars or some other “pet” name.
Read moreWho Really Benefits From Geraldo Rivera’s War On Trayvon Martin’s Hoodie?
I will admit that Geraldo Rivera has a point about the perils of minority youngsters dressing like gangsters. But everything about his scolding that Trayvon Martin’s hoodie was “as much responsible for his death as (shooter) George Zimmerman” smacks of opportunism – his own and Fox News’ – more than any concern for preventing any similar tragedies in the future. It’s certainly not likely to help the Martin family – or any of the millions of Americans feeling sympathy and solidarity with them – during their hour of grief. More likely, it will help Fox News move the narrative away from a host of pitfalls for its conservative agenda (gun violence, racism, police malfeasance toward people of color) and back to the more comfortable ground of blaming minorities for their problems. Oh, yeah, and it’s gotten Rivera a lot of extra attention, too.

In the wake of Geraldo Rivera's comments that Trayvon Martin's death was caused "as much" by his wearing a hoodie as by the man who shot him, BuzzFeed noted that FoxNews.com sold these dangerous hoodies. However, in solidarity with Rivera, Fox seems to have stopped selling tthis "gang paraphernalia." (H/T Think Progress)

Dr. Monica Crowley announced smugly on Your World Wednesday (3/22/12) that she would vote for a pineapple over President Obama. She thereby proved once again that having a Ph.D. does not preclude anyone from being a dolt.
Read moreGeraldo Rivera Continues His War On Trayvon Martin's Hoodie
Geraldo Rivera was on The O’Reilly Factor last night where he continued to blame Trayvon Martin’s hoodie for his death. Bill O’Reilly at first acted as though he were merely probing Rivera’s thoughts and why they caused such an uproar after he brought up the subject in both a Fox Latino column and on Fox & Friends earlier in the day. But soon O’Reilly made it clear he was in solidarity with Rivera because O’Reilly, too, had been misunderstood over his comments about the way a rape and murder victim had dressed – comments that O’Reilly now refashioned.
