Fox News "Real" Journalism?
Not only does Fox News claim it's "fair & balanced;" but it also claims that the rest of the mainstream media is full of liberal bias. Attached are screen shots, from Fox, CNN, and MSNBC of the headline reporting the closing of Hostess Brands. You tell me which one has an agenda. As the saying goes, it's not what you say, but how you say it. Words matter.

One can understand Fox News’ nostalgic yearnings for 2004 in the wake of their second presidential-election whooping last week. But Sean Hannity was almost giddy with anticipation at the prospect of a Swift Boat Veterans reunion tour against John Kerry should he be tagged for a cabinet position in the Obama administration’s second term.

Roger Ailes gave an interview to the ever-credulous TVNewser yesterday. One sentence jumped off the computer screen, as it almost certainly will to almost anyone familiar with Fox News' brand of "fair and balanced." Ailes said, "We have no agenda." Even more startling, he was talking about his network's coverage of President Obama.

The cognitive dissonance of Fox Nation is nowhere more apparent than it's promotion of the gospel of right wing Christian grievance while simultaneously providing some visual - er - stimulation for those Christian gentlemen who bray about liberals' loose moral standards. While Rupert Murdoch's Fox Nation can't get away with his "daily diet of topless 'Page 3 girls" in his British tabloids, it does provide some titillation for its readers in the form of photographs (Pic of the Day), on the right hand side of the site. Today we have a thread about Franklin Graham's belief that "we have turned our backs on God" while the "pic" is a scantily clad Rihanna. Fox Nation has something for everybody!
Read moreJon Stewart Explains Why Bill O'Reilly Shouldn't Fear The End Of Traditional America
Jon Stewart took Bill O'Reilly to task tonight and absolutely demolished his "end of traditional America" lamentation by pointing out that absorbing new ethnicities and religions is exactly the kind of tradition that makes our country great. Stewart also pointed out that there was a time when people complained that Irish, Catholics and Jews were a menace to "traditional America," too.

OK, election’s over, the post-election sour grapes are winding down (I hope!), and Fox is getting back to business as usual – which includes ad nauseam coverage of “Benghazi-gate.” Congressional intelligence and foreign affairs committees are holding hearings right now, but that’s not enough for some Republicans. Senator John McCain, along with Lindsey Graham and Kelley Ayotte, has demanded a select committee, like the ones that investigated Watergate and Iran-Contra, to investigate the Benghazi attack. And since the government won’t establish one on its own, they need you to demand the committee, as McCain told Greta Van Susteren last night.

Bill O'Reilly Lies About HHS Birth Control Mandate?
Bill O'Reilly once claimed that he's "very rarely wrong." But he does, as he admits, make mistakes. But given that he seems to be attuned to the issues, one wonders if some of his "mistakes" are deliberate lies meant to misinform and inflame his right wing viewers, many of whom are, presumably, conservative Catholics. Such was the case during his recent rant about the demise of "traditional" America when he referenced Catholic vote in the recent election. He said that "Despite the President's controversial insistence that some Catholic entities provide birth control and after pills, Catholics supported Obama 50 percent to 48 percent down from 2008 but still a surprise to some." While his stats were correct, the first part of the statement is either a mistake or a lie.
Read moreBill O'Reilly Still Claims 'Mythical' War On Women? Really?
In his recent screed about how the "left is bent on destroying traditional America," Bill O'Reilly claims that the "secular progressives have created a mythical 'war on women' screaming that so-called reproductive rights are under assault." Truth is that despite Bill's contention that we silly gals are having a fit of the vapors, the war on women is very real. As I have frequently noted, in the past two years there have been an unprecedented number of anti-choice measures, brought by the GOP, that have been proposed and enacted. And the war continues. As Jon Stewart said about Bill O'Reilly, he's "full of shit." I present as prima facie evidence, the following...
