As part of their efforts to smear then presidential candidate, Barack Obama, Fox "News" was more than happy to advance the right wing lie that Obama was joined at the hip to former student radical Bill Ayers - a meme that was picked up by Sarah Palin who, I believe, coined the phrase describing Obama as "palling around with terrorists." But in yet another example of Fox's double standard, Roger Aisles has no problem providing a dressing room, at Fox News' NY headquarters, for anti-choice Rob Schenck and his living Nativity which performs, annually, outside Fox. It's ironic - if the Occupiers engaged in the same type of shenanigans that Schenck did back in the 90's, it would be considered terrorism. And unlike Ayer's "terrorism," Schenk actually has a record!

Fox's Stuart Varney visited Fox Business' Imus in the Morning today where they debated the importance of the so-called War on Christmas. As Imus said he thought it was "absurd," Varney relayed - in a voice filled with outrage - the awful experience of donating some money to a Salvation Army worker on the street (they collect money every year around this time in New York) and getting a response of "Happy Holidays." Say it ain't so, Stu!

Jon Stewart nailed Fox News hypocrisy again last night - this time over its phony outrage against Bob Costas' comments on gun control.

While Bill O'Reilly didn't invent the bogus "war on Christmas, it had its genesis with those who, like Bill, mourn the demise of "traditional" America. It seems to have started with Peter Brimelow, a white nationalist who, like Bill, saw imaginary threats to Christmas as part of the "struggle to abolish America." Writers on Brimelow's hate group website, VDare, even blamed the Jews for the war on Christmas and accused the Jews of being resentful of those who celebrate Christmas.  One writer claimed that Hanukkah "inculcates negative lessons about Christianity, not positive ones about Judaism." So that begs the question of whether O'Reilly's hatred of the inclusive word "happy holidays," which includes Jews, stems from a desire to marginalize a celebration important to Jews. One thing is for sure, in providing tips for gift giving, which Jews do for Hanukkah, Bill only uses the word "Christmas."

As the media outlet for the right wing, Fox News provides a mouthpiece for their anti-choice zealotry - especially on Bill O'Reilly's show which was used as a platform to relentlessly attack an abortion doctor who was later assassinated. Since Dr. Tiller's death, O'Reilly has continued his anti-choice zealotry with attacks on Planned Parenthood which, despite Bill's prediction, still hasn't been defunded by Congress. Even when O'Reilly isn't hosting the show, its pro-life bias is underscored in the pro-life bias of frequent substitute and "pro-life media luminary" Laura Ingraham. Recently, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommended that in addition to speaking to their patients about sex and birth control, pediatricians give their patients prescriptions to emergency contraception. Not surprisingly, Ms. Ingraham was outraged. As the saying goes, Bill O'Reilly's apple doesn't fall far from the tree!!!!

Bill O’Reilly is not just upset but furious over the smackdown he got – with distinctly racial tones – from African American FoxSports.com writer Jason Whitlock over an invitation to appear on The Factor. Whitlock didn’t just decline the invitation, he told O’Reilly in no uncertain terms “I don’t have to shuffle off” to “dance” before the Speaker of the Big House of Fox News. And more.

Before Fox & Friends was against Gangnam Style, i.e. before they found a way to use it to attack President Obama, they were all for it. In fact, just Friday afternoon, two days before suggesting President Obama was palling around with a terrorist by attending a benefit performance that included Psy, Steve Doocy and Gretchen Carlson busted the "Gangnam Style" moves along with some seniors from Phoenix. I kid you not.

Michigan’s Republican Governor Rick Snyder visited Your World last Friday (12/7/12) to discuss Michigan’s GOP-controlled legislature approving right to work laws. He said, “We’re gonna get it done… It’s really important for a couple of reasons… It’s all about being pro worker. We have hard working people in Michigan, and it’s important to give them the freedom to choose. They should be able to choose whether to join a union or not, and this is about the relationship between a union and workers, not about employers and unions.”

Just when you thought that Bill O'Reilly had reached the nadir (or is it zenith?) of absurdity with his paranoid delusions about the attacks on Christmas by evil secular forces who are trying to bring down "Judeo-Christian" tradition, think again. Last week, Bill agreed with an extraordinarily misinformed (and equally misogynist and homophobic) Bernard McGuirk that the totally bogus "War on Christmas" is somehow part of the pro-abortion and pro-gay rights lobby. And while we know that Bill is an anti-choice zealot, he also claimed that he doesn't care about gay marriage - oh right, he wants the churches to fight against it because it's bringing down Judeo-Christian traditions. It's a complex world.

Although Fox News pretended its presentation of a live Nativity scene on Fox & Friends last week was just a nice way to celebrate the Christmas season, it was soon clear that there was a political agenda behind the presentation: to promote Christianity in the public square. In case you missed the message the first time, Fox & Friends’ Gretchen Carlson visited The O’Reilly Factor that night (12/6/12) and urged “folks” “all across America” to go out and enact live Nativity scenes of their own - on public property.
