Death Wishes For Nancy Pelosi On FoxNews.com - And Rape, Too!
Co-authored by Aria
You may recall that over the holidays, Fox News engaged in hypocritical class warfare over Nancy Pelosi's and President Obama's Hawaiian vacations. Not surprisingly, FoxNews.com picked up the class warfare attack, at least on Pelosi. The readers reacted with real class, too - by wishing she gets killed and/or raped. Comments were eventually closed, but not before we were able to get some screen grabs. You can see that many of the disturbing comments were up for at least several hours. This is Fox News' modus operandi. They put up an inflammatory post and rather than properly moderate, they leave the comments there until the thread is eventually shut down. We've repeatedly posted about the longing for violence to Democrats in Fox News' online communities.

During a discussion with Bernie Goldberg on The O’Reilly Factor last night (1/5/12), Bill O’Reilly said he is “very concerned” that the 2012 presidential campaign “will include charges of racism against people who criticize President Obama.” Not that he’s concerned about any actual racism against President Obama, especially from the likes of say, Donald Trump, or Hannity show regular, Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson. No, O’Reilly is concerned about false charges of racism against white people. “So we asked Bernie Goldberg to keep an eye on that situation,” O’Reilly told The Factor viewers.

Apparently, Bill O’Reilly is getting some heat from his tough interview with Rick Santorum the night after he won the Iowa primary (1/4/12). Last night (1/5/12), O’Reilly devoted 7:35 to his Talking Points segment – which normally lasts two or three minutes – to defending his interview. O’Reilly even made some interesting, legitimate points. But he damaged his own credibility by leading off with a boast about his own self-importance.

There have long been rumors of tension between Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes. An ironically named article in GQ, “Why I Love Fox News,” takes a look at some of the machinations within News Corp. Writer Michael Wolff, who also wrote the Rupert Murdoch authorized biography “The Man Who Owns The News; Inside The Secret World Of Rupert Murdoch”, dishes some of the dirt on the feud between News Corp. on the one side—represented by Murdoch and his family—and the Fox News Empire on the other side, represented by Roger Ailes. During the research for his book Wolffe had unprecedented access to Murdoch and, no doubt, his thinking. Wolffe writes:

Ordinarily, Sean Hannity and other Fox News conservatives salivate over the thought of going to war against Iran. They’ve been talking it up for years. But now that Donald Trump – that great expert on President Obama – has said he believes Obama will initiate a war in order to help himself win re-election, all of a sudden, they’re not so enthusiastic. On Hannity’s Great American Panel segment last night (1/5/12), guests Angela McGlowan and former Senator Alfonse D’Amato immediately agreed with Trump without even bothering to ask for any facts to support the theory. Oh, nobody seemed to mind going to war and having (other people's) blood shed. No, they squawked about such an abuse of power. But the real horror seemed to be that they thought this hypothetical ploy might work to get Obama re-elected.

Like a broken record, Sean Hannity can’t stop talking about Rev. Wright and President Obama’s “radical associations” which, apparently, can’t be highlighted enough or be more relevant to the coming 2012 campaign. During an interview last night (1/4/12) with Sen. John McCain and Mitt Romney, Hannity made it clear he thought McCain should advise Romney to attack Obama on those grounds. While the rest of us have been there and done that four years ago, Hannity, it seems, wants to start playing that “GD America” video of Rev. Wright all over again. But given Hannity’s own past association with a white supremacist that he has tried to bury, one wonders what a psychiatrist would make of this ironic mindset.

There is a bit of a buzz going on about the appearance of 17 year old actress Dakota Fanning on the cover of "Cosmo." Fanning looks drop dead gorgeous in perfectly appropriate couture that has far less cleavage than your average Fox anchorette. However, according to an article on the Fox News website, some in the media are saying that it is inappropriate for a 17 year old to be on a cover with articles about things like a woman's vagina and hot sex tips. (Does Bill O'Reilly have a copy of it, yet?) Anyway, the first person whom Fox writer Hollie McKay (who once wrote about poor, persecuted Carrie Prejean) quotes says that this "sends the wrong message." McKay describes Rachelle Friburg as a "media expert." My first thought was that Friburg was part of Brent Bozell's "MediaResearchCenter" or some other "family values" group of zealot prudes. But I was wrong and not even close!

Herman Cain appeared on the Hannity show Wednesday night (1/4/12) where he announced his latest venture: Cain’s Solutions Revolution, supposedly to answer the call to “Keep 9-9-9 alive.” There's a bus - “with my picture on it!” Cain boasted. According to Politico, there’s going to be a bus tour, too. But Sean Hannity, who pretended to be excitedly awaiting disclosure of Cain’s big announcement – and later let slip he knew about it all along – never got around to discussing that. Nor did Cain. The fact is that this new project looks like it's far more about Cain than 9-9-9 or anything else.

On yesterday’s Your World (1/3/12), Senator John Thune (R-SD) discussed his campaigning in Iowa for Mitt Romney. During the interview, host Neil Cavuto “asked, “ "Now early on you were for Mitt Romney, in fact I think sooner than Governor Christie in New Jersey, but Governor Christie gets a lot of the press and the attention. No offense to you Senator, you’re a wonderful man and a wonderful Senator, but you do not. Does that bother you?"
Read moreO’Reilly And Krauthammer Play War Games With Iran
It speaks volumes about Fox News and its leading show, The O’Reilly Factor, that it discussed a potential military conflict with Iran with political pundit Charles Krauthammer rather than a military expert on Monday night (1/2/12). I’ve got a lot of respect for Krauthammer who, admittedly, has a lot of foreign policy cred. But neither he nor Bill O’Reilly have ever served in the military. And they were each cheerleaders for the Iraq war. So I got more than a little queasy watching these two argue that the U.S. should up its bellicosity with Iran because even if it does lead to war, we win.
