Todd Starnes Exaggerates Community Enragement?

Posted by Priscilla · June 12, 2012 10:49 AM · 3 reactions

In right wing Fox world, any perceived affront to the right wing community by those groups not beloved by the right wing is described in hyperbolic terms connoting extreme distress. "Outrage" is the usual term of endearment but Todd Starnes got creative and in his story about a graduation speech given in Spanish, he used the word "enrage" to describe the reaction of the local community. The title of his report is "Spanish Graduation Speech Enrages Community." He writes that "many people" were upset that the valedictorian gave his speech in Spanish. But the article that he links to, in the local press, states that the school principal has received positive as well as negative feedback. The negative feedback -"half a dozen or so calls" to the school department. Oh well, now that Starnes' article is on Fox Nation, that proud to be American community will certainly become enraged.

Hannity Turns To Coulter And Phony Dem Caddell To Blame Obama For National Security Leaks

Posted by Ellen · June 12, 2012 10:01 AM · 5 reactions

The investigation into the national security leaks hasn’t even begun yet Fox News has already decided the Obama administration is guilty. But now, thanks to the unsubstantiated theory of Pat “I play a Democrat on Fox News TV” Caddell, Fox is fingering National Security Advisor Tom Donilon as the leaker. And for Hannity, that’s reason enough to accuse Obama of being at the heart of it all.

Cavuto Interview Suggests GOP Wants Scott To Back Off Voter Purge

Posted by Brian · June 11, 2012 9:26 PM · 8 reactions

When Governor Rick Scott (R-FL) appeared on Your World today, host Neil Cavuto asked surprisingly tough questions about Scott’s voter purge. It was uncharacteristic for Cavuto to be so skeptical toward any Republican governor, especially one that’s been in the cross-hairs of public scrutiny.  It was even more uncharacteristic for a Fox News host not to cheerlead any and all efforts against voter fraud. But Cavuto’s questions suggested he (and the Republican Party) are worried that the voter purge could lose Florida for Mitt Romney.

Karl Rove’s Super PAC “Jokes” That Commerce Secretary Bryson’s Seizure Was Drunk Driving

Posted by · June 11, 2012 1:49 PM · 5 reactions

On Saturday evening, Commerce Secretary John Bryson was involved in an incident where he hit two cars in quick succession. ABC News reports that he was initially suspected of a hit and run, before medical professionals confirmed that he had a seizure. Think Progress notes in their report that this is his second major seizure incident in four years - the first one being when he collapsed at a meeting in 2008. However, American Crossroads, the brainchild of Fox News contributor Karl Rove, thought that it would be cute to post on Twitter that he was driving drunk. To make it even worse, a spokesman for the group explained to TPM that was it was posted as a joke. Yeah, that's so funny I could throw up.

Fox Nation Race Baiting Thread Asks If African-American Woman "Hates America"

Posted by Priscilla · June 11, 2012 11:26 AM · 9 reactions

As I reported below, an African American Coney Island School Principal is getting harassed with vile racist comments because of her decision to remove Lee Greenwood's "I'm Proud to be an American." (Some irony there!)  So just to make sure that this continues, Fox Nation, a site "for those opposed to intolerance" has posted a thread, complete with photo of this woman and the headline "Does This Principal Hate America?" Nuff said!

Fox & Friends Promote Outrage Over Lee Greenwood's Patriotic Song Nixed By School Principal "Pulling Plug On Patriotism"

Posted by Priscilla · June 11, 2012 11:08 AM · 5 reactions

Lee Greenwood's schlocky "I'm Proud to be an American" is the unofficial National Anthem for red state America. As such, any affront to this sacred song becomes a cause célèbre in right wing world and by extension, on Fox & Friends which, earlier this year, expressed outrage that a public school abandoned plans to sing Greenwood's song that has become the standard prop of any gathering of God fearing, patriotic Americans. This world is outraged again because, as reported in the Murdoch owned NY Post, a Coney Island school principal removed Greenwood's song from kindergarten graduation because she "didn't want to offend other cultures." Meanwhile, the kids will sing Justin Bieber's "Baby" which, I will admit, seems a little odd given that the lyrics are about teenage romance. It's obviously a local issue; but that didn't stop Fox & Friends from taking it nation by doing a segment on this latest right wing hissy fit - a segment that included commentary from the uber Christian patriot (who never served) Greenwood himself who worked in a not so subtle dig on the aforementioned principal's Jehovah Witness religion. But he's proud to be an American so it's all good...

Get Ready For Swiftboating Of Obama As Too Soft On Muslims

Posted by Ellen · June 11, 2012 12:35 AM · 3 reactions

Fox News will be airing an “investigation” on Friday into the Fort Hood shooting. Judging from the preview that aired on the O’Reilly Factor a few nights ago, there’s every reason to expect a Karl Rove-ian attack on President Obama’s strength (the war on terror) by painting him as suspiciously over-sensitive to Muslims to the detriment of “regular” Americans.

Todd Starnes Notices Male Thongs & Leather Chaps At Gay Pride Parade

Posted by Priscilla · June 10, 2012 7:00 PM · 8 reactions

Fox radio's Todd Starnes is a very good Christian heterosexual bachelor who has a very big problem with gays who, he believes, are trying to take over good Christian American with their "militant" gay agenda. And to fight against this nefarious evil, he has taken on the task of exposing this pernicious plot by reporting bogus affronts, by the gay community, towards "God-loving Americans" and tweeting homophobic bullshit like how someday traditional marriage will be a hate crime and "militant" gays are taking over the public school system. And in his quest to reveal the horrors that the LGBT community is unleashing on real Americans, Todd is willing to go into the belly of the beast and expose his very heterosexual self to the Brooklyn gay pride parade. It was a tough job but Todd had to do it. And in so doing, he was quite observant. Among his tweets which mocked the participants he noticed "lots of male thongs and leather chaps."  Hmmmm...........

Is Oliver North A Plagiarist?

Posted by Ellen · June 10, 2012 2:41 PM · 5 reactions

Oliver North's Memorial Day post for Fox News Insider wasn't quite what it purported to be - the words of his "dear friend," Army Veteran and Medal of Honor recipient, Sammy L. Davis explaining the personal significance for veterans to observe the holiday in Washington D.C. Instead, Davis' reflections really came from author and NYU journalism professor Michael Norman's 1990 memoir.

Fox Priest Fr. Jonathan Morris Promotes Prayer In Public School

Posted by Priscilla · June 10, 2012 12:02 PM · 9 reactions

The religious right is still simmering over two major SCOTUS decisions that established the prohibition of prayer in public school. So it's not surprising that Fox "News." as the mouthpiece for the religious right, would promote the importance of getting prayer back into the TAXPAYER funded schools. What's interesting is that they are using their only official resident clergyman, a right wing Catholic priest, to promote the message about getting prayer back in public school. Who cares about that silly First Amendment, anyway!
