Condoleezza Rice Bursts Fox News’ Benghazi-Gate Balloon

Posted by Ellen · October 25, 2012 5:21 PM · 3 reactions

Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice visited On The Record last night to comment on “the State Department’s response” to the attacks in Libya. Although she did not absolve the Obama administration of any failures, she left no doubt that she sees no current evidence of wrongdoing and that the proper way to answer the questions left in the aftermath is through a real investigation. She also diplomatically shot down the overheated speculation that has run rampant on Fox lately.

Bill O'Reilly Has Lost it Over Benghazi

Posted by Ellen · October 25, 2012 3:11 PM · 10 reactions

Bill O'Reilly has gone over the edge over Fox's phony scandal that even Fox's own Juan Williams admits is based on "deliberate misinformation." First, O'Reilly announced that debate moderator Bob Schieffer should have told President Obama, "You screwed up" Benghazi as part of a debate question this week. Then, two nights ago, he lost it again with Charles Krauthammer.

Fox & Friends' Phony Gas-Price Stunt

Posted by Ellen · October 25, 2012 1:27 PM · 3 reactions

Fox & Friends didn't just promote the Koch Brother-funded Americans For Prosperity gas-price stunt designed to tar President Obama over rising gas prices, the "fair and balanced" show dispatched Fox's Heather Nauert for two live broadcast segments designed to give it even more credibility.

Stephen Colbert Destroys Fox News' Benghazi-Gate Coverage

Posted by Ellen · October 25, 2012 11:06 AM · 3 reactions

Stephen Colbert hilariously skewered Fox News' coverage of the attacks on the consulate in Benghazi, Libya. Bret Baier and Peter Johnson, Jr., whose over-the-top comments I posted about on Crooks and Liars, came in for special, well-deserved mockery.

Trump Admits His $5 Million Stunt Is All About Birtherism

Posted by Ellen · October 25, 2012 12:52 AM · 9 reactions

Donald Trump visited On The Record to reveal the details of his latest attention-getting stunt that he teased on Fox & Friends a few days ago. It turns out to be more birtherism. Trump is offering $5 million to the charity of President Obama’s choice if he releases his college records and passport applications. Host Greta Van Susteren made it clear she thinks the birther thing is baloney but she pulled a whole lot of punches on debunking it.

Sean Hannity Was Against Politicization Of National Security Before He Was For It

Posted by Ellen · October 24, 2012 10:16 PM · 3 reactions

I’m sure it’s not a big shock to our readers but it turns out that before Sean Hannity was salivating over smearing our president with Benghazi, he was oh-so-sanctimonious about the need not to politicize national security issues. That was when George W. Bush was president, of course, and when questions arose about intelligence failures over 9/11 and Iraq’s WMD’s.

Van Susteren: It’s Obama’s Fault If Fox News ‘Gets It Wrong’ On Benghazi

Posted by Ellen · October 24, 2012 1:51 PM · 7 reactions

Greta Van Susteren was agog over the “breaking news” that amounted to a bunch of emails showing that the White House knew that a terror group had claimed responsibility for the attacks on Benghazi. Of course, “claimed responsibility” is not the same thing as actually being responsible but in her excitement to finger the Obama administration as having engaged in some kind of nefarious cover up, Van Susteren didn’t bother with that pesky detail. Instead, she actually blamed the Obama administration for any of her own network’s reporting mistakes.

Juan Williams Tears Apart Fox News' Benghazi-Gate

Posted by Aria and Ellen · October 24, 2012 12:39 PM · 6 reactions
We have to give Juan Williams credit for stepping up and all but saying that his network's pet "controversy" and those who are promoting it is a pack of lies told by lying liars. We're talking, of course, about the attacks on the American consulate at Benghazi, Libya which left the Ambassador and three other Americans dead. Ever since it happened, Fox - which we have never seen show even a hundredth of the zeal to get to the bottom of the faulty intelligence that led the U.S. to invade Iraq and killed many thousands more Americans - has done its very best to turn Benghazi into the next Watergate. Facts or no. A few days ago, however, Williams penned a piece for The Hill that didn't dissect their three biggest lies, so much as tore them apart with the subtlety of a chainsaw through Jell-O.

Hannity’s Sorry Shouting Match Over Obama’s So-Called ‘Apology Tour’

Posted by Ellen · October 24, 2012 12:49 AM · 15 reactions

Sean Hannity hosted David Limbaugh (brother of you-know-who) and Democrat Steve Murphy as part of a presidential debate fact-checking show. But, not surprisingly, Hannity accepted without question Romney’s debate accusation that President Obama went on an “apology tour.” Never mind that this accusation has been widely discredited. But the segment soon turned into a shouting match as Democrat Steve Murphy refused to be interrupted and silenced by the two loud-mouths who seemed to think that spewing hate about America was some kind of badge of patriotism.
