Cavuto Lectures Nutritionist: You Creep Into Our Lives Like Velcro

Posted by Brian · May 09, 2012 10:56 AM · 3 reactions

Neil Cavuto seemed to subscribe to the “domino theory” of nutritionist invasions when he hosted nutritionist Rebecca Scritchfield on Your World to discuss the link between drinking soda and obesity. Two minutes in, Cavuto asked “Let’s say all your intentions are good, and they always are… but you creep into our lives like, you know, Velcro, and you won’t leave. It’s one thing with the soda, and then fatty foods at McDonald’s, and they better get salads on board and yogurt on board. So they do. That’s not enough… Then we go on and on to the pizza makers and who puts too much into their crust and who doesn’t. In other words, you never seem to be satisfied.”

O’Reilly Rewrites His History Of Demonizing The Ground Zero Mosque

Posted by Ellen · May 09, 2012 12:54 AM · 4 reactions

In October, 2010, Bill O’Reilly assured Deepak Chopra that if Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, the imam of the so-called Ground Zero Mosque, came on The O'Reilly Factor, dedicated the project to peace and condemned the 9/11 attacks, O’Reilly would stop badmouthing the project and “come down there with a saw and a hammer and help ‘em” Last night, Rauf tried to get O’Reilly to make good on that promise only to find that O’Reilly added a new condition: that the project had to be a few blocks away – which it always has been. O’Reilly also had a rather different recollection of his commentary about the project than the commentary we actually documented.

Hannity’s Misogynist Pal, Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, Is Also Quite The Bigot

Posted by Ellen · May 08, 2012 10:59 PM · 3 reactions

There’s been a lot of internet buzz about Kirsten Powers’ confrontation with Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson over his shockingly misogynistic statements in a video that we first posted about on March 15, 2012 (our own Priscilla found it).  As awful as those comments were, this seems a good time to remind people that Peterson has also made shockingly bigoted statements on Fox, especially on Sean Hannity’s shows. Yet Peterson keeps getting invited back. And Hannity continues to sit on the Advisory Board of Peterson’s charity.

Fox Suggests France’s New Socialist President Is Obama’s Soul Mate

Posted by Ellen · May 08, 2012 4:06 PM · 3 reactions

Fox News blatantly regurgitated Republican talking points yesterday as they “asked” how President Obama’s policies “stack up” to the newly-elected socialist president of France, Francois Hollande. Host Megyn Kelly pretended to be posing a real question but later, she tacitly admitted to have echoed a Republican meme. This, during a show that Fox touts as part of its “objective” programming. Factor Ambushes Newspaper Editor, Goes All the Way to Governor, Over "Racially Motivated" Virginia Assault

Posted by Margarita · May 08, 2012 11:16 AM · 3 reactions

Bill O’Reilly is still hot on the case of the two white reporters attacked and beaten by an indeterminate number (somewhere between five and 100) of black youths in a housing project in Norfolk, Virginia. He’s intent on proving that it was a racially motivated assault and that the reporters’ own newspaper, the Virginian Pilot, covered it up out of liberal political correctness. Last night, for the fourth night in a row, he used his show to hammer us over the head with the case.

Fox News Wants You To Think Women Make Less Than Men By Choice

Posted by Ellen · May 08, 2012 10:10 AM · 5 reactions

A Fox News article dated May 7, 2012, deliberately suggests that President Obama's focus on equal pay for women is a campaign ploy with no merit. Fox News reporter Angle leads you to think that the reason women make less than men is because of lifestyle choices. While that's true to some degree, Angle somehow left out the news that even in fields where women work in men's jobs or vice versa, men still make more. (H/T John P.)

N-Word Galore On Foxnews.com Comments

Posted by · May 07, 2012 10:34 PM · 8 reactions

One trend I noticed recently with FoxNews.com is just how often the n-word can be found in their comments. Not long ago, I found two stories where Trayvon Martin’s name appeared, although not directly tied to anything in that case. One was about the arrest of Alton Hayes III, who claimed that anger over Trayvon Martin was a motivation for attacking and robbing a 19 year-old white person. Hayes admits that race was a factor in his crime, and the article says he was charged with a hate crime.

Newly Minted Fox News Contributor Liz Cheney Probably Planning A Senate Run

Posted by Ellen · May 07, 2012 2:23 PM · 1 reaction

Liz Cheney joined Fox News as a paid contributor in January and guess what? Less than four months later, she'a already acting like she's running for the U.S. Senate. If I were a more cynical person, I'd say she's deliberately using her Fox platform as a launch pad - and that Fox News is letting her do so.

Hannity’s Torture-A-Go-Go Friday Night Special

Posted by Ellen · May 07, 2012 12:57 PM · 3 reactions

If you missed Sean Hannity’s special” Friday night, you probably had a better night’s sleep not having to worry about how many of the neocons Hannity slobbered over as “the best” minds on military and national security issues might actually have positions of power if Mitt Romney wins the election. As always with Hannity, the real point of the special was not to enlighten but to inflame and enrage his audience against President Obama. And for two of Hannity’s pet causes, torture and war against Iran.
