Bill Hemmer Advances GOP Meme That There's No War On Women

Posted by Priscilla · September 05, 2012 2:07 PM · 2 reactions

Despite the reality that GOP is making concerted attempts, some of them successful, to role back women's reproductive rights to the dark ages, the GOP is claiming that there's no war on women. As the mouthpiece for the GOP, it's not surprising to see Fox "News" promote this right wing talking point. Today, Bill Hemmer scored a propaganda two-fer in his interview with two GOP, anti-choice female governors. Not only did they get to dismiss the war on women meme; but they used their platform to bash the Obama administration all while Hemmer flashed his trademark aw shucks grin. Meanwhile they didn't address women's health care issues which are the core of the charge that the GOP is waging war on women. Nothing to see here, move along.

In Pushing Godless Democrats Meme, Bret Baier Leaves Out Important Details

Posted by Priscilla · September 05, 2012 1:05 PM

One would assume that part of Fox News' platform of being "fair and balanced" includes accuracy- especially when it comes to "God" who stands at the right hand of Roger Ailes. "God" does seem to have been added to Fox News arsenal of weapons of mass smearing against Democrats. This morning, as I reported, Steve Doocy's interview about Michelle Obama's speech took a right turn when Doocy just happened to mention how the evil godless Democrats have removed the word "God" from their platform while the sanctified, godly GOP use (LOL) "God" 12 times. But Doocy represents Fox "opinion" and this kind of propaganda wouldn't be pushed on Fox News. Oh, wait, alleged "fair & balanced" Fox "news" guy Bret Baier introduced it last night. (Congrats to Fox on the birth of another bogus meme).

Steve Doocy Whines That Dem's Dropped "God" From Platform

Posted by Priscilla · September 05, 2012 10:37 AM · 5 reactions

Along with standing for "God," the GOP platform also stands for one nation, under "God," that would ban all abortions even in cases of rape and incest. But that's no problem for Jesus BFF and Fox fiend, Steve Doocy who is all a twitter about how the Democratic platform has eliminated "God" from its language. This morning, Steve Doocy proved, once again, that Fox & Friends is Jesus' favorite morning show. And in so doing, he proved, once again, that Fox & Friends is also "the morning happy-talk show that Ailes uses as one of his primary vehicles to inject his venom into the media bloodstream" via sugar coated propaganda. On today's Fox & Friends, Roger Ailes smiling "attack poodle" and devout Catholic Steve Doocy was able to skillfully inject the Fox message that Democrats are a bunch of godless scum who are, as noted on the instructional chyron, "losing their religion." But as usual, for Fox & Friends, "that was just a dream..."

Fox News Pundits Try To Damn Michelle Obama’s Convention Speech With Faint Praise

Posted by Ellen · September 05, 2012 7:01 AM · 13 reactions

Last week, Fox News pundits mostly gushed over Ann Romney’s speech to the Republican National Convention. But last night, Michelle Obama really wowed the crowd at the Democratic convention. And the Fox News pundits immediately set to finding fault.

I've been so absorbed watching Castro, Duckworth and Michelle, I forgot to open up this thread. Thoughts? Comments?

Bret Baier Gets An Earful From Sen. Dick Durbin

Posted by Ellen · September 04, 2012 8:15 PM · 7 reactions

Dick Durbin put Bret Baier on defense today when he tried to question Durbin about why Democrats had removed the word “God” from their platform. Durbin said, “Well, I could just basically tell you, if the narrative that is being presented on your station and through your channel and your network is that the Democrats are Godless people, they ought to know better. God is not a franchise of the Republican party.” It never got much better for Baier especially when, after asking why Democrats had removed “Jerusalem,” too, Durbin retorted, “Those two words coming out means our relationship with Israel has changed? Is that fair? Is that balanced?”

Geraldo Rivera Apologizes For Criticizing Clint Eastwood

Posted by · September 04, 2012 5:12 PM · 3 reactions

A previous article on Newshounds noted Fox News fawning over Clint Eastwood's bizarre speech at the Republican convention. Geraldo Rivera was a notable exception, having called it “dreadful” and “buffoonery." Well, it seems that Rivera has put himself back on Fox News' Eastwood-loving plantation. Yesterday, I found a tweet in which he apologized for being “harsh,” “cranky” and “too judgmental.” It's odd that Rivera would be apologizing for an opinion - which he gets paid to give - but it's even stranger when you compare it to his apologies for his hoodie comments in the wake of Trayvon Martin's death.

Sandra Fluke Reacts To O'Reilly's Smear About Her DNC Speech

Posted by Ellen · September 04, 2012 2:22 PM · 4 reactions

Last week, I posted about Bill O'Reilly's nasty suggestion that contraceptives would fall from the ceiling, instead of balloons, when Sandra Fluke speaks at the Democratic convention this week because there's "There’s only one reason this woman is speaking. One and one only." Last night, Fluke reacted with grace and poise to that remark on the Ed Show.

Todd Starnes Pays Homage To Billy Graham After Tweeting Lie About Union Boss "Threatening Violence"

Posted by Priscilla · September 04, 2012 12:38 PM · 3 reactions

Todd Starnes, Fox News Radio's "fundamentalist barking dog" and gay pride parade fashion observer, is one of the many Fox employees who are part of Jesus' Fox News entourage. Thus, it was no surprise to see Starnes, on this morning's Fox & Friends, provide a treacly testament to fundamentalist icon Billy Graham and his library which is in Charlotte, NC. Forget Mt. Sinai and the Vatican. According to Starnes, this library is the next best thing to heaven - a place where all the living presidents, except for that son of Satan Barack Obama, have visited. So given Starnes' devotion to the almighty and his emissary on earth, wouldn't ya think that Starnes would have some qualms about breaking that pesky commandment about not telling lies? Think again. Yesterday, Todd tweeted a great, big whopper. What would Jesus and Billy think!

Huckabee And Ed Klein Baselessly Speculate Obama Will Use Romney's Religion Against Him

Mike Huckabee – fresh from his speaking gig at the Republican National Convention – hosted the discredited author Ed Klein over the weekend for two segments of blatantly partisan doings disguised as a news discussion.
