With ‘Patriots’ Like Fox News, Who Needs Enemies In Libya And Egypt?

Posted by Ellen · September 13, 2012 12:00 PM · 6 reactions

The refrain all day and night on Fox News has been to mostly cover for Mitt Romney’s huge blunder of a press statement about the anti-American violence in Egypt and Libya and ratchet up anger and fear toward President Obama. Yesterday, “objective” show host Megyn Kelly brought out “strategic analyst” Lt. Col. Ralph Peters to use the situation to smear President Obama – with a little help from Kelly.

Fox News Website Features Muslim Baiting Headline?

Posted by Priscilla · September 13, 2012 10:55 AM · 3 reactions

"Fear Incorporated" is a Center of American Progress report which describes Fox News as part of a network of people and groups that promote anti-Islamic talking points in order to foment fear and loathing of Islam. Media Matters has documented numerous instances in which Fox News "bashes Islam with impunity." An article in "Salon" describes how Fox News is part of the Islamophobia industry. So is today's Fox News website headline, which specifically cites "Muslim" attacks on our embassies, just part of their "fair & balanced" approach to news or just another Pavlovian example of getting their audience to salivate with the ringing of the "Muslim" bell. A check of other news websites shows a very different approach. Used to be that the incendiary headlines were relegated to Fox Nation. Now they've gone mainstream? If Hispanics, in Latin American countries, were to attack our embassies, would Fox News say "Catholic mobs" were involved? Probably not

Suddenly Fox News Concerned About SEAL Safety - In Order To Attack Obama

Posted by Ellen · September 12, 2012 6:37 PM · 2 reactions

Remember how Fox News outed and endangered the life of a Navy SEAL Team Six member who took part in the killing of Osama Bin Laden? That was so last month! This month, Fox is all concern about the SEALS' safety - now that it has an excuse to use it to attack the Obama administration.

Bill O'Reilly Still Slut Shaming & Lying About Sandra Fluke

Posted by Priscilla · September 12, 2012 3:54 PM · 6 reactions

Move over Miley Cyrus, Bill O'Reilly has a new obsession. It's been almost a week since Sandra Fluke spoke at the Democratic Convention and Bill O'Reilly just can't stop slut shaming and lying about her. As News Hounds Ellen pointed out, he couldn't stop talking about her on Monday night's "Factor." Last night he continued his obsessive fixation on how Fluke during his seemingly endless braying about how these "far left" sluttly slut feminists and Planned Parenthood want to open drive through abortion clinicsat the nearest mall. Snark aside, O'Reilly is a fan of the white, Christian, male power structure who long for the "halcyon" days, when women "knew their place" and "accepted that sex was a dirty thing they should go out of their way to avoid, lest the taint of it made them unmarriageable."  For O'Reilly and his patriarichal pals, Fluke epitomizes a new kind of woman who isn't willing to conform to fifties fantasies of womanhood.  For Bill O'Reilly, she's a bad girl who needs to be punished.

Fox News Rehabs Romney’s Middle East Blunder

Fox News is apparently willing to time travel in order to make Mitt Romney’s widely-blasted statements on the Middle East look more presidential and reasonable.

Fox Nation Stands With Mitt Romney Over The United States Regarding Libya

Posted by Ellen · September 12, 2012 1:03 PM · 9 reactions

Mitt Romney's attack on President Obama in the middle of riots in Libya and Cairo has been blasted by Republicans. As Buzzfeed reported:

“Bungle… utter disaster…not ready for prime time… not presidential… Lehman moment.” And that's just the Republicans.

But you'd never know that from checking out "fair and balanced" Fox Nation. There, Romney is presidential and President Obama looks like an enemy of America.

Bill O'Reilly Wants Palin's Help Smearing Obama More

Posted by Ellen · September 12, 2012 2:39 AM · 15 reactions

Bill O’Reilly has made it clear he has very little respect for Sarah Palin. Yet he trotted her out last night to offer Republicans advice on how to win the 2012 presidential election. That’s right, the quittingest half-term governor who is now the poster child for what not to choose in a vice presidential candidate and is persona non grata in the Romney campaign suddenly had more valuable insights than, say, Karl Rove or any number of other Republicans in the Fox News stable of pundits. Why? The answer seems to be O'Reilly wants Mitt Romney to personally attack President Obama in Palinesque, “palling around with a terrorist” kinds of ways.

Fox’s Un-Godly Politicization of 9/11

Posted by Ellen · September 11, 2012 4:47 PM · 8 reactions

Ever eager to display their Godliness – and find fault therein with Democrats - Fox doesn’t seem to have quite the same interest in truthfulness. Or decency. Case in point: Their deceptive effort to claim that President Obama gave “God the boot… again” in his September 11, 2012 Patriot Day proclamation. (H/T Jim T.)

Bill O'Reilly Advances Family Research Council's Homophobic Lies About "Gay Pedophilia"

Posted by Priscilla · September 11, 2012 3:06 PM · 1 reaction

During the Chick-fil-A "controversy and the subsequent shooting at the Family Research Council, Fox News provided full support for FRC's president's constant whining about the unfairness of the Southern Poverty Law Center's charge that they are a hate group. Missing from the Fox Amen Corner was any mention of the reason for the SPLC designation; i.e. the denigration of the gay community with lies, chief among them being the bogus connection between homosexuality and pedophilia. But to his credit, Bill O'Reilly interviewed SPLC president Mark Potok who was allowed to explain the reason for the hate group label. And to his discredit, O'Reilly validated the FRC's homophobic lies. In other words, O'Reilly put the period in the Fox News sentence about how awful it is that the FRC is being persecuted by these evil libruls when the FRC is just telling it like it is. And why would O'Reilly disagree with the FRC, when he believes that "clustered gays" at ballparks are "inappropriate!"
