Gretchen Carlson & Tea Party Pol Say War On Christmas Is Real!
It's that blessed time of the year. Stores and houses are festooned with lights. Inflatable Santas bob alongside garish Nativity scenes on front lawns. Treacly holiday music assaults the ears. Folks filled with the spirit of the season buy lots of Chinese crap that they can't afford. And on Fox "News," Christian victimhood takes on a whole new meaning as part of the annual Fox Christian confection otherwise known as the "War on Christmas" which allows persecuted Christians to whine about how evil secularists who are ruining Christmas. Much of last year's Fox war coverage centered on the "outrage" over the RI governor designating the state tree as a holiday tree. (His GOP predecessor did the same but Fox kept that mum). RI Tea Party diva GOP State Rep Doreen Costa appeared on Fox & Friends to whine. And just like Santa, she has returned this year for more Christmas whining.

Bill O'Reilly is a devout traditional Catholic who, like his fellow devout traditional Catholics during the Crusades and the Inquisition, has no problem persecuting those whose beliefs do not fit into his narrow orthodoxy. Like Roman pontiffs who issued papal bulls excommunicating those who were out of line, culture warrior and pope wannabe O'Reilly issues his own denunciations via the bullshit that comes from his national pulpit. Such was the case on last night's "Talking Points," during which O'Reilly continued last year's Fox attack on RI Governor Lincoln Chafee over naming the official state tree, the "holiday tree." For traditionalist Catholic Bill O'Reilly, it just wouldn't be Christmas without some, metaphorically speaking, heretic burning. Christmas spirit at its finest. The baby Jesus must be so happy!

Well, well, well. After Pulitzer-Prize winning author Tom Ricks gave Fox News an earful on the air about its partisan coverage of Benghazi - and had his interview quickly terminated - a Fox exec told The Hollywood Reporter that Ricks apologized to them. But Ricks says otherwise. It's OK for Fox to accuse other networks of all kinds of journalistic malpractice, it seems, but when the shoe's on the other foot, their widdle feewings can't take it.

The GOP and Christian right hate the Affordable Care Act for many reasons. But chief among them is their opposition to the requirement that good Christian employers are now required to provide, as part of their health benefit package, free contraception. Rather than seeing, as do the insurance providers, the economic and health benefits of fertility control, free birth control is viewed as encouraging slutty slut women to engage in dirty, wild sex. These good Christian employers also feel that emergency contraception and IUD's are the devil's work because they cause abortions - a belief held by the Catholic Church and some evangelicals but not the medical community. But that doesn't stop Fox News from enabling the false meme that abortion drugs are now covered by the mandate. Yesterday, Fox "news" host, Gregg Jarrett not only continued the lie but embellished it with another lie!
Read moreFox Nation Says "Joe Klein Is Either Dumb Or A Liar"
Fox Nation, according to their mission, "is committed to the core principles of tolerance, open debate, civil discourse, and fair and balanced coverage of the news." What's really funny is that, despite this claim of "balanced" news coverage, the anonymous "journalists" of Fox Nation accuse a real journalist, Joe Klein, of being either "dumb" or a "liar" because his version of the events in Benghazi conflict with GOP talking points. Klein, a graduate of the U of Pennsylvania and former Guggenheim fellow, writes for Time Magazine and is a member of the Council of Foreign Relations. So stupid? Hardly. As far as being a liar, he was giving his opinion about a situation about which we still don't have all the answers. But obviously Fox Nation does; but unlike Fox News, they can't just stop the speech; but rather, defame the speaker.
Update: Fox Nation has changed the title of their piece to "Scarborough vs. Klein on Susan Rice." Wonder Why?!
Bill O'Reilly Still Whining About The Loss Of 'Traditional America'
While many of us just finished a Thanksgiving weekend filled with family, friends and feasting, Bill O'Reilly seems to have spent it sucking his sour grapes of racial resentment at the loss of “traditional America.” You may recall that O'Reilly has been whining about this subject for weeks now. Tonight, he announced during his Talking Points segment, “Many Americans are depressed because traditional America seems to be disappearing.” Many Americans? Or just those who can't stand the thought of their taxes going up to pay for welfare queens?
Read moreFox Denies A War On Women But Hypes A War On Men
Fox Newsies insist there's no war on women. Yet in a FoxNews.com editorial, author Suzanne Venker - who boasts about not having any professional credentials beyond a messy marriage and a willingness "to speak out about things" she knows "from experience to be true" - argues that there's a war on men. And guess who's waging it? Feminists. So it's no wonder Fox News loves her message.
Read moreFox Nation Misleadingly Suggests Planned Parenthood Offering 'Black Friday' Discounts On Abortions
Fox Nation got right in the holiday spirit mood over the weekend with a post called, "Planned Parenthood Abortion Clinic Offers Black Friday Discounts." Inside the article, Fox reported that "an abortion clinic in Southern Florida is offering a Black Friday discount -- including $10 a visit to the abortion clinic today." There was a picture of a coupon above the article which gave the impression that coupons were being given out for abortions. Shockingly (not!), it turns out Fox was misleading its readers. The coupon was merely $10 off of any visit (and $5 off emergency contraception). According to their websites, these Planned Parenthood offices, not "abortion clinics," offer HIV testing, STD testing, emergency contraception, Men's Health Care, Women's Health Care (including Pap Smears, Mammograms, and Cancer Screenings), and other services. In no way does the coupon encourage abortions; in fact it doesn't even mention them.

Jon Scott was a picture yesterday of just the kind of media bias he complains about in others as host of Fox News Watch when, during Happening Now, he hosted a Republican operative, disingenuously introduced him as a spokesman for the last four U.N. Ambassadors, and then prodded him into attacking the Obama administration over what's happening in Egypt.
