Fr. Jonathan Morris Says Joe Biden Is A Liar?
In addition to "Fox News bishops" there is a Fox News priest. Fr. Jonathan Morris is not your average parish priest. He joined Fox News when he was stationed in Rome as a member of the disgraced "Legion of Christ" and very close pal of the order's pedophile (and baby daddy) founder, Fr. Marcial Maciel who pandered to the rich and famous. While Morris is officially stationed at NYC's Old St. Patrick's Cathedral, he finds time to go on various international junkets with his very special pal, Cardinal Dolan whose opposition to the president's birth control mandate has received reverent validation on Fox by Morris and Fox hosts. Despite other clergy who occasionally make appearances on Fox, Morris has a weekly Sunday gig during which he validates GOP right wing talking points that reach a vast Fox News "parish." So it was no surprise that Morris would support the bishops' "rebuke" of Joe Biden over his debate remarks about the mandate. And given that the bishops are implying that Biden is a liar, it wasn't surprising that Morris suggested the same thing!

Jon Stewart does it again. After noting that MSNBC acknowledged President Obama blew his presidential debate performance, Stewart compared that to Fox's whiny attempts to delegitimize Biden's win. Stewart summed it up with, "Joe Biden was an agnry, demented, abusive, drunk, old crazy person who mopped the floor with our guy."

If anything should discredit Fox’s attempts to turn Benghazi into Watergate, it’s their use of Donald Rumsfeld to throw stones of foreign policy blunders and cover-ups from his Iraq “Weapons of Mass Destruction” glass house. Not that that would ever be mentioned on “fair and balanced” Fox. In fact, I can’t recall even a scintilla of the interest in the false premises used by the George W. Bush administration to invade Iraq as there is in fingerpointing against the Obama administration before the Benghazi investigation has been completed. So it looks like a twofer for Fox in trotting out Rumsfeld to attack Obama. On the one hand, it looks like an authoritative attack coming from a former Secretary of Defense that Fox viewers saw little to no questioning of his credibility. At the same time, it helps boost that cred by disappearing those black marks on his record.
Read moreFox Nation Find Arlen Specter's Death 'Inspiring'
Fox Nation did a "salute" to Senator Arlen Specter in commemoration of his death yesterday. But the readers were less than salutory. It's possible they rated the post "inspiring" because they wanted to give props to Specter's career as a public servant. And, in fairness, the other options are not much more fitting: offensive, funny, cool, obnoxious, scary and crazy. But the comments left by the readers suggest their respect for the dead ends at the conservative end of the spectrum. They also leave no doubt that the hate spigot never stops against political foes on Fox Nation - which still boasts about being a place of tolerance and civility. (H/T Christopher S.)

With gentle barbs and humor - but no finger pointing or shouting - Bill Moyers did a devastating take down of Bill O'Reilly's attack on him as "the poster child for the federal deficit." After highlighting many of O'Reilly's falsehoods and mistakes, Moyers invited him for "a civil conversation about our differences. No editing. No tricks. I'll even introduce him to our fact checkers, some of the best in the world. We use them, too."
Read moreFox & Friends Uses Misleading Visual To Advance Bogus "Obama Phones" Meme?
Fox & Friends' relationship with the truth seems to be on shaky grounds given the number of times that they have been called on their misinformation which they only rarely correct. Given the pattern, one wonders whether it's faulty research and fact checking or blatant attempts to promote right wing propaganda. Such was the case, on Sunday's Fox & Friends, during which Dave Briggs and the guest, Steven Crowder, promoted the right wing viral lie that the President is distributing free phones to minorities poor people. And in addition to the verbal propaganda, the lie was further reinforced by chyrons and a backdrop visual that looked like an official Obama administration website for obtaining "Obama Phones." It's not. It's unclear what Obamaphone.net is. However, it does seem to be part of the attempt to advance a right wing lie being advanced on the "fair & balanced" Fox News network.
Read moreFox & Friends & Steven Crowder Advance Free 'Obama Phone' Hoax
In the delusional, bizarro world of the right wing, President Obama is providing lots of free stuff to lazy, criminal black and brown people in order to buy their votes. The newest iteration of this paranoid and racist right wing narrative is a viral video, released by Drudge and reported on the Fox website, that shows a black woman who claims to have received a free phone from the president. Since then, the right wing sites have been awash in commentary about free "Obama Phones" being distributed, to the poor, by the administration. This has been a topic on Fox Nation and the Fox News website. (Term used with quote marks) The reality is that while there is a program for free cell phones for low income folks, started under George W Bush, there is NO SUCH THING AS AN "OBAMA PHONE and the whole thing appears to be a hoax which has been around, in e-mail form, since 2009. But that doesn't seem to be a problem for Fox & Friends which provided Steven Crowder with a platform for advancing this bogus narrative.
Read moreLaura Ingraham Pimps Pro-Life Lie: Abortion Drugs Covered In Birth Control Mandate
Forget about Jesus - the US Conference of Catholic Bishops has a friend in Fox News and in this world of the twenty-four hour news cycle, that gets you far more mileage than Jesus! From the moment that these men in black began to howl about how the HHS birth control mandate infringes on their religious liberty (Special privilege to discriminate? Not on Fox!), Fox news validated their outrage. And it's not just me. Washington Post writer Melinda Hennenberger wrote that "Fox News bishops" are alienating some Catholics. The bishops' outrage continues, as shown in their immediate rebuke of Vice-President Joe Biden's debate comments about the birth control mandate. Thus, it wasn't surprising to see Catholic anti-choice zealot Laura Ingraham, in taking her marching orders from her bishops (and Roger Ailes), promote the bishop's talking points - including the Fox News/Catholic bishops zombie lie that the HHS mandate covers abortion drugs.
Read moreFox Nation: Joe Biden Was Off His Meds
Remember how Fox Newsies couldn't get over how Vice President Biden disrespected Congressman Paul Ryan during the vice presidential debate last week? Apparently, respect is a one-way street on Fox. Because since then, Biden has been likened to an "obnoxious drunk," a senile Dr. Evil and had tests for dementia recommended. in the same vein, we also have Fox Nation saying that Biden was "off his meds." (h/t Aria)
Read moreFox's Dr. Keith Ablow Suggests Biden May Suffer From Dementia
With all the vilification of Vice President Joe Biden on Fox News lately, it was only a matter of time until their resident psychiatrist weighed in. This morning, on Fox & Friends, "Medical A Team" psychiatrist Keith Ablow proved once again that he may need a shrink, himself, as he insisted that Biden ought to be evaluated for dementia. How crazy was that? So crazy that two of the hosts argued otherwise. But Ablow's "assessment" just happened to match comments made by other Fox News pundits about Biden.
