Lying About Taxes!
Last week’s Cavuto on Business (10/6/12) discussed the looming fiscal cliff coming on January 1. Near the end, the discussion turned to taxes. Ben Stein said, “I think high income people are going to have to take a lot of pain... Our taxes are just too low. We need higher taxes on well-to-do people. There’s not going to be a shortage of capital. There’s plenty of capital.” But panelists Gerri Willis and Charles Gasparino wrongly insisted raising taxes would lead to a “double-dip recession.”

Peter Johnson, Jr., Fox’s supposed “legal analyst,” appeared on Fox & Friends this morning for one of a zillion segments lambasting Vice President Joseph Biden’s debate performance two nights ago. But Johnson’s surely won the award for Most Hideous. He suggested that Biden may be senile and then compared him to Dr. Evil.

As more proof that respect is a one-way street on Fox News, host Mike Huckabee visited America’s Newsroom this morning and likened Vice President Joe Biden to “an obnoxious drunk who’s loud and boisterous and interrupts every conversation.” Despite all the hand-wringing the night before about Biden’s disrespect toward VP candidate Paul Ryan, do you think host Bill Hemmer found that out of line? Three guesses and the first two don’t count! (H/T Jay Diamond)

Greta Van Susteren visited members of the Paul Ryan family last night after the debate. After showing a group of supporters with Romney/Ryan signs, she asked, in all seriousness, “So, what did they think?” Gee, Greta, what did you think they’d think? Or was that the whole point? Because there was one important question Van Susteren never asked: Who did they think won?

In addition to Fox News hosts proclaiming that the "war on women" is a liberal myth and that - true story - women are insulted about all that talk about lady parts, several GOP women have appeared on Fox to push the same meme. These Republican women claim that what women really care about is the economy and who cares about lady parts. The woman in the attached video is supporting Romney for the reasons given above. But I don't think she will be appearing on Fox News.

Fox & Friends Hypes Islamophobe’s Suit Against The Military
Fox & Friends got a twofer earlier this week when it showcased a threatened lawsuit by Lt. Col. Matthew Dooley against the U.S. Military. Dooley is not only a virulent Islamophobe but he apparently hates President Obama. So when Dooley’s representative told guest host Peter Johnson, Jr. that the Pentagon has capitulated to jihadists, Johnson was all ears and no challenge.

In a new article in Mother Jones, writers David Corn and Stephanie Mencimer caught Mitt Romney singing the praises of Glenn Beck at a May 2009 fundraiser for a dubious, unaccredited college that seemed more intent on promoting extremist views than academic excellence. The entire article is quite eye-opening about how the recently-moderate Romney pandered to the far right. But most relevant to us as News Hounds are Romney’s comments about Beck.
