Obama-Bashing Movie is #1 at Box Office, Brags Fox Nation: But There Are Loads of Asterisks
Anti-Obama Movie #1 at Box Office, trumpeted the headline to a post on Fox Nation today. It was celebrating extremely high advance sales for 2016: Obama’s America, during its first weekend of general distribution. But if you read the fine print in the article in deadline.com from which Fox Nation’s post is taken, you’ll find they’ve stretched the truth a lot.
Read moreFr. Jonathan Morris Uses Homeless Man To Encourage Church Membership?!
The main mission of Fox News' special mission from God (and his other son Roger Ailes) is to highlight the plight of American Christians who are being persecuted by the evil forces of secularism and atheism. And in addition to providing a pulpit for the church of perpetual outrage, it appears that part of Fox's divine mission is to cheerlead for religion and in so doing present, as Fox fact, something that flies in the face of reality; i.e. religion is not in decline. Last Sunday, Fox's primo member of the God squad, Fr. Jonathan Morris, waved his metaphorical cheerleading pompoms to inform us that things are looking up. He also told a tale about a weird "golf game" that he had with a homeless guy - a tale that does needs retelling as it tells you all you need to know about Morris' priorities which seem to have more to do with I-phone photos than works of mercy.
Read moreMonica Crowley’s Latest Obama Conspiracy Theory: He Wants Iran To Have A Nuclear Weapon
I guess it wouldn’t be an hour of Monica Crowley if we didn’t get another one of her off-the-wall, anti-Obama conspiracy theories. Last night, as she was guest hosting for The O’Reilly Factor, Crowley didn’t just criticize President Obama’s policy toward Iran, she dug up a former Romney spokesman, hid his affiliation by presenting him as a former U.N. spokesman, and after bitching about Obama having “utterly failed” in Iran, she concluded that Obama’s “whole strategy” has been “to advance our enemies, to support them in ways that we can’t even imagine.” Classy. As usual.
Read moreFox News Democrat Pat Caddell Teams Up With Citizens United To Make Anti-Obama Movie
In case you had any lingering doubt that Fox News “Democrat” Pat Caddell is anything but a fraud designed to provide Fox with another anti-Democratic voice under cover of “balance,” then his proud association with Citizens United’s new anti-Obama movie ought to completely eradicate it. The movie will premiere at the Republican convention next week. And yes, it was produced by that Citizens United. Sean Hannity was so eager to promote it that he announced, “This is the most powerful documentary I’ve ever seen in my life. There’s no way that anybody watches this film could vote for Barack Obama. It’s impossible!”
Read moreThanks To Fox News, Al Qaeda Has Targeted Navy SEAL Author
Earlier today, we posted about Fox News outing the name and location of the Navy SEAL involved in the raid that killed Osama Bin Laden – and who had written a book about his experiences under a pseudonym. Now we learn that websites affiliated with Al Qaeda have posted the man’s name and photo with calls for revenge. (h/t Think Progress)
Read moreHow Fox News Mainstreams Right-Wing Extremism – Dinesh D’Souza Edition
Author Dinesh D’Souza has made a number of outrageous, irresponsible and easily disproven accusations about President Obama that essentially center around the “Obama views are more African than American” dog whistle, although couched in more digestible terms. Instead of exposing and disposing of this detestable sort of rhetoric, Fox News has deliberately hyped it – under cover of merely presenting it for discussion. Sadly, when given an opportunity to challenge that tactic and framing, two Democrats failed to do so.
Read moreKarl Rove Assures Us that Romney Will Grow on Us
You can almost pity Republican pundits like Karl Rove. They keep trying to sell Romney to undecided voters based on middle-of-the-road issues like the economy, and then people like Todd Akin open their mouths. So last night Rove was back on On The Record, assuring us that Romney has our middle-of-the-road issues at heart and that we’ll really like him when we get to know him.
Read moreMartha MacCallum Says Who Cares About Public School Church/State Issues When "We Have Bigger Fish To Fry"
The patented Fox News "persecuted Christian" meme is not just relegated to official Fox opinion. It also has crept into the official news programming at Fox where discussions of the "Ground Zero Cross" had Megyn Kelly, an alleged straight news anchor, mocking atheists and fellow straight news anchor and member of Ailes' God squad, Martha MacCallum totally freaking out about those nasty atheists - a group that seems to have moved higher than Muslims on the Fox News shit list. Much of the persecuted Christians vs. evil atheist material comes from Fox's culture clubber and male thong observer, Todd Starnes, who is always on the alert for affronts to good Christians by atheists and the gay agenda. Yesterday, Fox & Friends featured a Starnes story about how Christians are being harassed for blasting prayers, over the loudspeakers, at public school football games. Later, Fox "News" featured another story broken by Starnes; a complaint about churches providing meals to the public high school football players. MacCallum provided the requisite Fox News Christian cheerleading.
Read moreFox News Publishes Real Name, Location Of Navy SEAL Author Of Bin Laden Book
No, I’m sorry, there is no clever spin, no witty way to put this - Fox News actually outed the real name and location of a Navy SEAL Team Six member who participated in the killing of Osama Bin Laden. To make matters worse, the point of Fox’s article doing so is the supposed concern for national security information divulged by the publication of the SEAL’s pseudonymous book. The hypocrisy is so overwhelming that you'd better get a bucket.
Read moreLaura Ingraham's Far Out Claim: Romney's Mormonism Under Attack By Far Left & Mainstream Media
On Fox News, there are some certainties. Along with personal attacks and dubious "truthiness," Bill O'Reilly's "The Factor" includes a hefty diet of smears of the "far left" and the mainstream media which is accused of being biased. (Oh, the Irony!). Bill might be on vacay, but his sub, Laura Ingraham has no problems promoting the standard memes such as she did last night when she accused the far left and the mainstream media of attacking Mitt Romney's Mormonism. There is more irony in that Fox News has hosted a Texas pastor, Robert Jeffress, who once said that evangelicals won't vote for Romney because he is a Mormon cult member. Fox's Mike Huckabee suggested that Romney might believe that the devil and Jesus are brothers. But all that is behind us now that the right is united in its efforts to defeat the anti-Christ Obama. And part of that effort now includes charges that the "far left" is bigoted - a charge being made by the not so tolerant Laura Ingraham on a network that has no problems with a guest who says that Islam is a "radical, savage religion." On, the Irony?!
