Fox Nation Cries "Commie Menace" over Obama's New Campaign Slogan
In case you didn't have enough proof that Barack Obama is a socialist, Fox Nation has generously provided you with more. Only hours after the President unveiled his new campaign slogan, "FORWARD", the Nation joined the right-wing bandwagon to scream that the word has long-standing ties to Communist and socialist causes.
Read moreO'Reilly Wanted To Ambush Dan Rather
Bill O'Reilly and Bernard Goldberg sat down to deliberately trash veteran newsman Dan Rather last night. Rather has a long, distinguished career in journalism but ever since he dared to report that George W. Bush went AWOL during his time in the Texas Air National Guard, he's been a GOP Fox News pariah. Even if you believe (which I do not, by the way) that Rather got his AWOL story wrong, compare the treatment of him to Andrew Breitbart and his series of discredited reports.
Read moreBashing Obama More Important Than His Afghanistan Visit To Fox News
The screen grab from the home page of FoxNews.com pretty much says it all. President Obama's surprise visit to Afghanistan is discussed in small letters. But a headline many times larger "asks," PLAYING POLITICS WITH THE COURAGE OF OUR HEROES?" It's worth noting that, as NewsHound Alex pointed out in a comment, Shepard Smith and Studio B took a very even-handed approach to this story. But I'll bet dollars to doughnuts (as my mother used to say) that O'Reilly, Hannity and Van Susteren will follow the FoxNews.com lede.
Read moreWhat Happened To Jesse Watters' Video Of Van Jones?
Remember how last week Bill O'Reilly told stalker/producer Jesse Watters to cough up the video he insisted he had of Van Jones saying that Republicans want to poison children? We were supposed to see it on yesterday's Factor. Not only did we not see it, there was no explanation as to why we didn't.
Read moreOn Hannity, Torture Is Patriotic
Sean Hannity spent two segments on his Fox News show last night with Jose Rodriguez, the former CIA officer with a new book defending the use of “enhanced interrogations.” Predictably, Hannity was not only downright enthusiastic about the techniques, he suggested those who differ (think President Obama, who banned them) are not pro-American enough.
Read moreFox News Sunday Debates “Hypothetical” Damage To Obama From Supreme Court Rulings On Arizona Immigration Law And Health Care Mandate
On yesterday’s Fox News Sunday, host Chris Wallace seemed to take it as a given that the Supreme Court will rule against the Obama administration in both the health care mandate and the Arizona immigration law cases. So he opened the panel discussion segment by asking “how damaging” such rulings would be to Obama’s re-election efforts.
Read moreFox News’ Hoenig: The EPA’s Goal Is To Raise Gas Prices And Hurt Mankind
On Saturday’s Cashin’ In (4/28/12), the top story was an EPA official’s desire to “crucify oil companies” remark, sparking an investigation. Host Cheryl Casone – who almost surely knew that super-libertarian Jonathan Hoenig would provide an inflammatory, anti-EPA response, asked him, “Is this EPA attack on energy companies a big clue as to why gas prices are high now and they’re probably going to go up?”
Read moreFox Nation Focuses On Kimmel, Overlooks And Edits Chris Christie Fat Joke At WHCD
Fox Nation, the website supposedly dedicated to fair and balanced coverage of the news showed just the same kind of fairness and balance as its TV network when it reported on the White House Correspondents Dinner. In an article called Kimmel Kills, President Obama's speech was completely edited out. If reading the post was your only knowledge of the dinner, you could be forgiven for not knowing Obama gave one. Also, Fox Nation kindly edited Kimmel's jab at Chris Christie's weight and Obama's devastating (but hilarious) take down of Donald Trump. Funny, both were in the original article on which Fox Nation based its post.
Read moreMegyn Kelly's Promotion Of Bishops Religious Liberty Agenda IgnoresTheir Criticism Of GOP Policies
The Fox News network provided almost non-stop validation for the US Conference of Catholic Bishops on their opposition to the HHS birth control mandate. This issue was front and center on both the Fox News "opinion" show Fox & Friends and official Fox "news" where Megyn Kelly also provided warm fellowship for the bishop's strident denunciation of the policy. Recently, however, the bishops have criticized the Paul Ryan budget as they feel that it hurts the poor. They have also spoken out against the Arizona and Alabama immigration laws because they feel that these laws infringe on the church's ability to work with immigrants. Apart from Foxpriest Fr. Jonathan Morris' reference to the immigration problem and a question from Fox News' Martha MacCallum's question to Rep. Paul Ryan, regarding the bishops' criticism of his budget, these issues aren't exactly front burner on Fox. Last week, Megyn Kelly hosted, once again, the homophobic, anti-Semitic, and blamer of victims of pedophile priests, Catholic League head Bill Donohue in order to discuss, once again, the bishop's position on religious liberty as it relates to the HHS mandate. Anything else was off the table. Wonder why.
Read moreFox & Friends Continues To Pimp Right Wing Christian Petition
As the go to show for the Christian right, Fox & Friends never wastes an opportunity to showcase, as part of their patented persecuted Christian meme, how those who hate the baby Jesus are trying to tear his cross down at every opportunity. These lawsuits, based on First Amendment questions about a distinctly Christian symbol on public land, do not concern those who believe that the religiously diverse US is really a "Christian nation." The Christian warriors on Fox & Friends have provided coverage and support for the "Mojave Desert Cross" which was erected on government land but now, as a result of a court decision, will be turned over to a private veterans group in return for five acres of donated land. At one point in the coverage, Gretchen Carlson whined that evil atheists, Barack Obama, and the ACLU will soon be trying to get rid of crosses in veterans cemeteries. Kelly Shackleford, from the right wing Liberty Institute, has been the Fox & Friends point person for this issue. Yesterday, he appeared, once again, to talk about the recent court decision regarding the cross that is constantly carried on Fox & Friends.
