As part of its full frontal assault on Michael Moore for having the audacity to criticize "American Sniper," Fox promoted a Fox & Friends video with the misleading title, "Moore invokes Jesus in latest attack on 'American Sniper’: Debbie Lee, mother of slain Navy SEAL sniper Marc Lee, fires back at the liberal director."
The Fox & Friends segment featured a gushing Elisabeth Hasselbeck speaking with Debbie Lee who, according to the Fox News Insider article and Hasselbeck, is the mother of Chris Kyle's "best friend," Marc Lee, the first Navy Seal to be killed in Iraq. The lengthy interview, lasting over five minutes, included the perfunctory bashing of Moore, Howard Dean, as well as lots of praise for the awesomeness of the American military and, of course, "American Sniper," a film that has been vigorously defended on Fox. One banner framed the message about how it's the "liberal media" that is conducting an "assault on Chris Kyle."
NOTHING WAS SAID ABOUT MOORE'S JESUS TWEETS.
And what also wasn't said was that according to Ms. Lee, her son was not Kyle's bestie. On the Facebook page for the veterans group that she heads, America's Mighty Warriors, she actually corrects Fox: "Marc was good friends with Chris but not his best friend as they start the segment."And, even more interesting is the fact that she isn't exactly just your average non-partisan Gold Star Mom; but, rather, a right wing activist who was a member of the Tea Party Express which Fox News was quite fond of.
Fox seems fond of Lee and has interviewed her on a number of occasions during which she toed the Fox anti-Obama line. During a 2011 interview with Neil Cavuto, Lee accused the president of engaging in a "political ploy" in drawing down troops in Afghanistan. Only a year ago, on Fox & Friends she attacked the President for withdrawing the troops from Iraq (she didn't mention that the SOFA agreement was made under Bush) and said it was "disgusting" that Obama isn't supporting the troops.
On Fox News Insider, the article accompanying the Fox & Friends video, was titled, “'What Would Jesus Do?' Moore Continues to Bash Chris Kyle 'American Sniper.'” The article included Moore's irreverent tweets about what Jesus would think about the role of snipers. So given that Jesus has become the personal property of Fox News), I was ready for a full-throated denunciation of Moore's blasphemy; but that didn't happen.
This is the second time this month we’ve caught Fox misrepresenting what’s in their own video. Either shoddy video reviewing is part of a pattern or someone is deliberately fabricating right-wing talking points!
Their real agenda is to undermine the film, Selma, which is produced by Oprah Winfrey, a good friend of President Obama. American Sniper is directed by Empty Chair Clint Eastwood.
These fools want American Sniper to win Best Picture at the Academy Awards.
Now the masses knows the real truth.
What? Can’t it be both?
