As sure as the tide goes in, the tide goes out, when a major Republican figure says something stupid, there's a good chance that Fox News will provide them with some sweet rehab. When Fox Host and possible presidential candidate Mike Huckabee made his now infamous libido comment, it didn't take much more than 24 hours for Fox to roll out the rehab carpet. Huckabee mansplained himself on Megyn Kelly's show. Bill O'Reilly mansplained Huckabee's comment on The Factor. And yesterday, Huckabee got warm validation on Fox & Friends where the liberal media was accused of spinning (!) Huckabee's comments and where Huckabee added to his mansplanation a big, fat lie about "free abortions" for all those out of control, gullible, libidinous nymphos who are getting seduced by Uncle Sugar and his free slut pills. Good times...
Famous dick and week-end Fox & Friends host, Tucker Carlson, played video of non Fox media reactions to Huckabee's comment. Just a visual of Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski was shown. Carson explained that "you've just watched some Obama acolytes bashing Governor Huckabee for his comments about women." (Scarborough, a conservative Republican, is NOT an Obama acolyte but I guess in Foxworld, he is.) Carlson played video of what Huckabee "actually said." The chyron was a patented Fox attack on the media: "Out of Focus, MSM Covers Huckabee; Not Obamacare, Benghazi."
Clayton introduced Huckabee who was there "to set the record straight." To Morris' question of whether Huckabee was "surprised" at the reaction, Huckabee said that he had already said the same thing on his recent show and that he "used the exact same language and it didn't get a peep out of anybody." Oh, sir, I beg to differ. Newshounds Priscilla covered your rant in which you said that the women that you know are "far more complicated that their libido and the management of their reproductive system."
Huckabee repeated his insane claim that Republicans are "waging a war for women because we believe women are equal." He spoke of awesome conservative gal pals who don't "need the government to hold their hand" because they're not "victims of their gender." As the chyron asserted that Huck's comment was taken out of context, Huckabee provided more insight into his bizarro world in claiming that his comments were about "upholding" women. He praised his wife, with whom he has a covenant marriage.
Carlson asked if those who are attacking Huckabee, "basically political operatives posing as talk show hosts" (LOL, and Fox hosts are GOP operatives?) should know that Huckabee isn't attacking women. The chyron reinforced the anti-mainstream media message about Huckabee being misinterpreted: "Mainstream Media Mishap, Reporters Twist Huckabee's Words Around." Carlson added that "this is part of a cynical plan...to whip women into a frenzy, to scare female voters to vote Democrat." (No, Tucker, the scary thing is that since 2010, thanks to the GOP, there have been unprecedented attempts to roll back choice)
Huckabee followed with the totally batshit crazy comment that it's "Democrats who have degraded women." Carlson said "of course." (Hey Huck and Tuck, it's not Democrats who require women to wait 24 hours and /or have an unnecessary sonogram before they have an abortion because they need to be shamed into not having the procedure.) Huckabee continued his rant about how the GOP really cares about women, unlike the Democrats who think that what women need is "a prescription for birth control and getting a free abortion." Anna Kooiman said "right." Not right. HUCKABEE IS A LIAR. THE ACA DOES NOT PROVIDE FREE ABORTIONS!!!!!!
In earning her sugar from Uncle Roger, Anna Kooiman, "as a woman," said that she "totally" agreed with Huckabee and found it "offensive" that "the left wing media is being lapdogs to Democrats and putting us into a box acting like the only thing we care about are our reproductive organs." Huckabee, who supports "personhood" for fetuses, claimed he has "a much higher impression of women than the Democrats do." The chyron reinforce the Fox message about the evil media: "On the Attack, Mainstream Media Goes After Gov. Huckabee." After Huckabee noted that when he was governor, his record of appointing women to positions was better than Bill Clinton, Carlson snarked about how "we know how much Clinton respects women." He added "this whole thing is a joke, completely phony" while Huckabee is genuine.
Right, Mike Huckabee so cares about women that he endorsed the Southern Baptist stance that "women should submit graciously to their husbands." But about those free slut pills from Uncle Sugar - Feministing's Maya Dusenbery says it best: I agree on one thing, Mr. Huckabee: "Let’s definitely take this discussion across the country and see how many outraged women rise up against the tyranny of being able to get affordable birth control. How dare they!"
Oh and one more thing. Before the ACA mandate, Fox News covered birth control for its employees. Does that mean that Fox women couldn't keep their libidos in check and that Roger Ailes was Uncle Sugar?
Such a joke.
fucker carlson fits in so well over there. What a complete douchebag.
Yeah….“we do more for women”….doh, let me see now, there’s……..
