In attempting to divide an already divided country, Fox News plays to the apocalyptic fears of those who feel that their country is being taken away from them by scary "illegal" brown people and scary Muslims. In their effort to play the fear factor card, Fox News has, on occasion, interviewed Dennis Michael Lynch whose not exactly mainstream "films" about the "open" Mexican/American border are xenophobic piece of paranoia dedicated to smearing immigrants who are - ready for it - coming here to slit your throat. He made another appearance on last Sunday's Fox & Friends. And while he didn't engage in the type of fear mongering that he did last September, he was able to morph the fear of illegal brown people with fear of Muslim terrorists. Throw in some Chinese for good measure. Mirabile Dictu!
Tucker Carlson played video from the film, "They Come to America, II," in which Rep. Peter King said that we don't have to fear Chinese coming across the border and a "minuteman" type who pointed out a sign, near the Mexican border, in Spanish, English, and Chinese. Carlson introduced his guest, who "exposed holes in the border," Dennis Lynch, the director of "They Come to America, the Cost of Amnesty." Lynch, while waving a DVD of his movie, claimed that if folks really want to know what's going on at the border, "this is the silver bullet that can kill that entire immigration bill. Lynch said he "has a problem with the president" and anybody pushing for the immigration bill because "they're putting American lives in jeopardy." He spoke of how he "survived 9-11 first hand," and referenced the Boston bombing in stressing how no immigration bill can be passed until the borders are secure and at present they are not.
Lynch then proceeded to impress us with his tech savvy border patrol gear consisting of sunglasses with a hidden camera. He claimed that the border patrol told him "everything is coming through" including terrorists. He claimed that the border patrol, who aren't allowed to talk to the press, are angry because they can't protect Americans and - ready for it "that's why I'm here, doing what I'm doing Tucker because I feel that I have a responsibility to help people who don't have a voice." Waving his DVD around, he told Carlson that his Facebook followers, who have watched his film say "it's the best film they've ever seen because it's the first time anybody is really addressing this in the true manner that it needs to be addressed." He added that if you order one of his DVD's, you'll get five. (Such a deal!) so that they "spread them out." He accused "the liberal media, the elite media" of not giving this attention and praised Fox for covering it.
To Tucker's question of whether he has evidence that Chinese are entering the country illegally, he responded "absolutely" and it's all in the film. To a credulous Tucker, Lynch claimed that he's found militia helmets with Arabic tags and actually "caught Middle Easterners coming in groups of sixty through the desert" which, he stressed, "is a hundred miles inland through Texas." (OMG, hide the wimmin and grab yer guns!) He continued to bray about hordes who were coming across the Rio Grande. Lynch declared that the President is dealing with this "because he's either lost his mind or being misinformed."
Uh, I don't think it's the president who has lost his mind or is misinformed. Just saying...
