There should be a photo of Bill O'Reilly next to the DSM IV diagnostic manual's definition of the Narcissistic Personality Disorder which has a number of indications, including "a grandiose sense of self importance" which speaks to a need for "excessive admiration." When one considers all the things that Bill O'Reilly has *falsely taken credit for, it would appear that O'Reilly fits the definition quite nicely. Bill's most recent delusion of grandeur involves his taking credit for a Grosse Pointe Michigan school's reversal of its cancellation of a speech to be given by Rick Santorum. While O'Reilly's already large cranium is now over inflated with a sense of self importance, the reality is that, according local news reporting, he didn't have anything to do with it. But then reality isn't O'Reilly's strong suit.
In reporting on the back story, that Rick ("man on dog") Santorum's speech had been cancelled and then reinstated, O'Reilly said that the "superintendent of schools for that district, Dr. Thomas Hardwood, cancelled Santorum's appearance "saying that he's a bigot because he opposes gay marriage." O'Reilly then explained that rather than the word "bigot," Harwood used the word "extreme" and "we all know what the code is do we not." He then proceeded to engage in some bogus self-congratulation: "So, a funny thing happened when we called the school district in Michigan. A magical - - about two hours later, a magic piece in the paper appeared." He explained that the students will be allowed to attend the speech as long as they have parental permission. Santorum spent most of his interview time to articulating his not very persuasive arguments about how same sex marriage is wrong because marriage is really about happy breeding. (Every sperm is sacred). He also lied when he claimed that places with same sex marriage have lower birth and marriage rates.
The next night, during one of O'Reilly's patented screeds about how the "far left is running wild," he, again, gave himself credit for Santorum being allowed to speak at the school as long as students have permission. He followed this with a whine about how those nasty teenage slutty sluts can have abortions without getting permission which, of course, is based on actual law.
Anyway, here's the real deal. While the superintendent was concerned about Santorum's views, the reason for the initial cancellation was because the school did not receive an advance copy of the speech. Santorum, however, claimed he was never asked for one. The allegation that it was cancelled because of the school's social views came from the members of the group sponsoring the speech, "Young Americans for Freedom" who, according to school authorities, refused to provide a copy of the speech. A spokesperson for the school said that the cancellation had nothing to do with Santorum's views. The school reversed the decision when they were assured that the speech would "focus on leadership and community service — “two qualities we seek to instill in our students.” They did require that students get permission, something that Santorum and O'Reilly were upset about.
O'Reilly wasn't the only person to express outrage over the cancellation. The decision to reschedule Santorum seemed to have come about as a result of deliberations "between the Grosse Pointe Public School System administration and the South student club Young Americans for Freedom" who shelled out $18,000 for Santorum. O'Reilly's influence wasn't cited in media reports but we all know ;) ;) that it was really O'Reilly who saved the day.
But here's the thing. We assume that the Catholic schools that Bill's kids attend would never have Bill Ayers or Kathy Boudin come speak to the kids; but if their teachers are feminazi nuns, ya never know. One assumes that Bill wouldn't defend Ayer's and Boudin's right to speak at the school as he did for Santorum. And if a permission slip were required, one also assumes that he wouldn't sign it!
* saving Christmas in Great Barrington, Massachusetts; for Mitt Romney’s “47%” remarks; for harming France with a boycott of French products (because of France’s opposition to the Iraq war); for suggesting he deserved credit for the capture of mobster Whitey Bulger; for the release of American prisoner Jon Hammar from a Mexican prison; or the reversal of the Ohio Speaker of the House that allowed a teen to win a pro-life award on the floor of the Ohio House.
Geez, BOR, only someone who truly doesn’t feel good about the person they are would feel the need to constantly pimp up themselves the way you do. Despite all your blustering and bravado, methinks you are a very insecure, little person. Seek professional help please.
Way to go, BillO! You should work on getting Dr. Carson reinstated as JHU’s commencement speaker . . .
.
Some one is paying Santorum $18,000 to speak? Might be money better spent to have him listen instead. All he’s going to do is “preech” like any pastor so why don’t they pay some local pastor to give the speech and the money can stay in the community. The local pastor would likely put that money to good use locally.
Santorum, instead, will cash the check and move on to the next gullible fools willing to part with there cash.
If he ever has a “biographical” movie made about his life, which one plays his character; Jeff Daniels or Jim Carrey?
Just for fun, make sure you have the camera’s rolling when he blames all of Amurka’s problems on the “blah” person in the White(only)house!
