How much does Bill O'Reilly hate abortion? So much so that he used his show as a vehicle to verbally assassinate an abortion provider who was operating within the confines of the law. For his ongoing efforts in helping to create a climate of hatred in which Dr. George Tiller, whom O'Reilly dubbed a "killer," was assassinated, O'Reilly received a "Courage Award" from the Family Research Council hate group. O'Reilly never apologized to Tiller's family for his defamation of the doctor who, as seen on Tuesday night's Factor, is still the target of O'Reilly hate speech and great big whopping lies. In adddition to attacking Tiller, during a discussion in which Bill O'Reilly lobbied against NY legislation to protect women's reproductive rights, O'Reilly put NY Governor Cuomo in his metaphorical cross hairs. How much does Bill O'Reilly hate women? Read on!
O'Reilly's topic for his "Is It Legal" segment was the NY legislation which is opposed by anti-abortion zealots like Bill and NY Catholic Cardinal Dolan because it will "expand" availability of abortion. Supporters of the bill assert that this further solidifies the right to abortion in NY, especially if Roe is overturned. Speaking first was attorney Lis Wiehl who explained that while under present law, a woman can only get a late term abortion if her "life" is in danger, the new law has a health exemption. O'Reilly brayed that the "health deal is subjective, there are no standards." Wiel cited the wording of the law which references a doctor's "good medical judgment." O'Reilly added "you can find a doctor who'll say anything."
When Kimberly Guilfoyle noted that it's currently criminal to get an abortion after 24 weeks, Bill interjected "Andrew Cuomo doesn't want any criminal deal." He then launched into a Tiller attack: "Isn't this what was going on in Kansas with Dr. Tiller who was assassinated, called him Tiller the baby killer because he had one of the few late term abortions in the country and for $5,000 you could go there for any reason at all, he would terminate in the third trimester." Once again, Bill is lying. Tiller's actions were legal and in accordance with Kansas law which "permits late-term abortions when two independent doctors agree that the pregnant woman would be irreparably harmed by giving birth" - not, as Bill claims "for any reason at all."
He waved his finger and pontificated "In fact, the Kansas authorities took the medical license away from the doctor who was giving the reasons to abort saying there were no reasons. So she lost her license." Bill was referring to Dr. Ann Neuhaus who provided second opinions to Tiller. Her license was revoked because Operation Rescue complained that her patient notes were too short. Neuhaus stated that the brevity was done to protect client's privacy against an investigation being done by then Kansas Attorney General Phill Kline who stands to lose his Kansas law license due to charges of ethical misconduct which include his appearing on Bill O'Reilly's show where he "spoke about the contents of records obtained from the clinic, after the Kansas Supreme Court told him to 'resist any impulse to further publicize the respective legal positions."
After Guilfoyle said that the late term abortion Kansas clinic will be reopening, Bill attacked Governor Andrew Cuomo, "a practicing Catholic" (who governs a religiously diverse state) as wanting to "pretty much allow abortions in the third trimester for any health reasons." O'Reilly and his legal posse agreed that, in expanding the definition of who can perform an abortion, nobody would be held accountable "even if the reason is found to be bogus you're not criminally charged..." Bill then did his duty to Cardinal Dolan and the right to life fanatics for whom O'Reilly serves as the media mouthpiece. He urged the "good people of NY not to vote for this, this is just wrong." Guilfoyle agreed. When he said "we're talking about human lives here," Guilfoyle agreed. Theologian Bill proclaimed "In the third trimester, there's no debate here, it's a human being."
Neither Bill nor his legal ladies talked about why health exceptions are important - for example, a woman whose fetus was affected with spina bifida or anencephaly - or a woman with a heart condition who, according to O'Reilly, should be forced to wait until she is near death in order to have an abortion. Bill (and his church) would not allow a woman, who is undergoing chemotherapy, to have an abortion even if continuing the pregnancy means that the fetus would be damaged by the treatment or the pregnancy would be miscarried.
But keep talking Bill. Your twisted misogynistic ideology, as shown by the recent election, is a loser because it shows that the only "human life" you care about is the fetus. Your medically uninformed position and religious view (not shared by all NY residents) shows your disdain for women who will benefit from this legislation. While you fight for the unborn, you're certainly not fighting for women. There's no debate here, women are "human beings."
On another note, I hope that Cuomo has a good security detail. We all know what happened when O'Reilly went after Tiller....
