Judge Jeanine Pirro Blind To The Overwhelming Evidence About President Obama’s Birth Certificate
Reported by Ellen - April 17, 2011 -
It’s bad enough that a slew of Fox News pundits have disingenuously thrown themselves in with Donald Trump’s completely, utterly and unequivocally debunked conspiracy theory about President Obama’s birth certificate. But Pirro is there, according to Fox News, to present “her legal insights on the news of the week, current high profile cases, as well as recent issues and trends in the world of crime and justice.” One would think it goes without saying that a former judge and district attorney who hosts a show called “Justice with Judge Jeanine” would rise above the political fray, recognize credible evidence and have the gumption to stand up for truth. But, sadly, for at least the second time in two weeks, Pirro turned a blind eye to the mountain of evidence against Trump’s “controversies.” The only real unanswered questions are whether Pirro did so deliberately or out of shocking ineptitude. The other question is, of course, why Fox News has allowed her to continue that misinforming, misleading course.
Is there any Fox News show Trump has NOT appeared on recently? He has been interviewed by Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Greta Van Susteren, Geraldo Rivera, Neil Cavuto and he's got a weekly gig on Fox & Friends. Trump even appeared on Alan Colmes’ liberal radio show – though Colmes managed to find and present the compelling evidence that “Judge” Pirro couldn’t (to the obvious annoyance of Trump, who insisted on changing the subject after being vigorously debated, it’s worth noting). Last night (4/16/11), Pirro had her chance with Trump in what turned out to be a predictably softball interview. But it was during her interview with Michele Bachmann, another potential 2012 presidential candidate, that Pirro expressly turned her back on the facts and claimed that Obama has not presented his birth certificate. That's the same false claim Pirro made the week before.
It’s also worth noting that it was Pirro, not Bachmann, who brought up the birth certificate “question.” It happened at about 8:51 in the video below. After several questions for Bachmann about Trump’s potential candidacy (which Bachmann praised), Pirro asked for Bachmann’s “thoughts” on the birth certificate issue.
Bachmann called it, “an interesting issue that has gone on for so long and it’s one that the president could have solved very early on. All he had to do was just answer some questions and show his document and then have people do an attestation that this in fact is a legal document and it’s over, it’s done. And I think the president has neglected to focus on answering that question for people.”
To repeat, Obama has produced his birth certificate and it has been examined and authenticated by various non-partisan fact-checkers. Even Karl Rove agrees it’s a non-issue. But Pirro responded not by challenging any of Bachmann's false statement but by tacitly agreeing with her (Trump’s) accusations and saying, “Well, it would certainly put an end to it.”
Shame, shame, shame.
