The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart Responds to Glenn Beck
Reported by Aunty Em - January 21, 2011 -
That didn’t take long. Yesterday News Hounds reported Glenn Beck’s irrational answer to a simple question by Meredith Vieira. The whacky response did not go unnoticed by its subject. When Jon Stewart heard the following exchange on whether Beck regretted any of his hateful eliminationist rhetoric, he actually invited Beck onto his show:
GB: Let me give you this. Anything I said in jokes, no. Ask Jon Stewart. Ask The Simpsons. Okay.MV: You don’t think it contributes at all to a climate of anger? Or hate.
GB: Ask Jon Stewart that question. Ask The Simpsons that question.
MV: But I’m asking you that question.
GB: But I’m saying, if you ask that question to those guys, I think you’d get the same answer. No. Comedy is comedy.
It must be noted that Stewart’s show is on a comedy network, posing as a fake “News” show, while Glenn Beck is on a fake “News” network, and he now wants to pose as a comedy show. However, being magnanimous and kind, as the new code of civility calls for, Stewart invited Beck onto The Daily Show, and even sweetened the deal by offering Beck a 5-colored chalk-holder. Stewart promises Beck “It will be great exploitative television.” Watch:
It’s entirely possible that Beck could accept. After all, he’s got his new self help book to pimp. If Beck appears on Stewart’s show I hope he asks, “Where’s the humor in this?”
Tea parties believe in small government. We believe in returning to the principles of our Founding Fathers. We respect them. We revere them. Shoot me in the head before I stop talking about the Founders. Shoot me in the head if you try to change our government.I will stand against you and so will millions of others. We believe in something. You in the media and most in Washington don't. The radicals that you and Washington have co-opted and brought in wearing sheep's clothing — change the pose. You will get the ends.
You've been using them? They believe in communism. They believe and have called for a revolution. You're going to have to shoot them in the head. But warning, they may shoot you.
They are dangerous because they believe. Karl Marx is their George Washington. You will never change their mind. And if they feel you have lied to them — they're revolutionaries. Nancy Pelosi, those are the people you should be worried about.
