Roger Ailes Must Show Some Decency And Stop Glenn Beck's Vicious Attacks On 78 Year-Old Professor

Anyone who even occasionally watches Fox News' Glenn Beck show knows that he takes particular relish in viciously attacking a certain 78 year-old professor named Frances Fox Piven. He regularly accuses her of trying to collapse the government and/or destroy America as we know it. The disturbing result is that death threats have been posted on Beck's website, The Blaze, which have not been removed. Professor Piven recently appeared on Democracy Now and described what it's like to be targeted this way. Now the Center For Constitutional Rights has written to Fox News head Roger Ailes asking him to intervene, put an end to Beck's campaign and stop the reckless endangering of Professor Piven. We concur.
According to the CCR press release, the letter, co-written by Legal Director Bill Quigley and Executive Director Vince Warren, asks Ailes to distinguish between First Amendment rights, of which they are “vigorous defenders” and an “intentional repetition of provocative, incendiary, emotional misinformation and falsehoods about a person (which) can put that person in actual physical danger of a violent response.” The letter goes on to say that the threats must be taken seriously by Fox News and that Professor Piven's life could be at stake.
We are requesting that you order Mr. Beck to cease and desist. We ask you to stop Mr. Beck from continuing the constant intentional repetition of provocative, incendiary, emotional misinformation and falsehoods about Professor Piven. mr. Beck is putting Professor Piven in actual physical danger of a violent response.We ask you to order an immediate inestigationinto this and insist on a speedy and fair resolution which will stop the Fox and Beck generated threats on Professor Piven. Professor Piven's life could well be at stake.
Isn't it long past time for Fox News to have some sense of decency at long last?
