Glenn Beck: Religious Leader? Cult Guru? Or Psychotic!

Reported by Priscilla - August 20, 2010 -

Whenever somebody claims that God talks to them, it’s time for an intervention. When somebody claims that God is giving them a plan to save America, it’s time for a serious psych evaluation. In April, Glenn Beck claimed that God had given him a plan to fight the forces of “darkness.” Those in the psychiatric community might say Beck is suffering from “messianic delusions in schizophrenic spectrum disorders;" but Beck is on a mission from God so it’s all good. Since April, Beck has been doing lots of preaching about the importance of God – which is kinda weird cuz from what I know about “God,” she isn’t cool with folks who engage in slander and fearmongering. And when Beck says that the only answer to America’s problems is God, is Allah included? God and Beck are BFF’s and during one of their chit-chats, God told Beck that Obama’s policies "are the enemy of God." (Didn’t know that God is a Republican) Beck’s religiously generic revivalism is an American tradition starting with the “Great Awakening” and continuing with millionaire TV evangelists who, like Beck, sell their religious snake oil to those that PT Barnum said were born every minute! Beck is even taking his show on the road, the night before his rally of angry white people at the Lincoln Memorial to be held on the anniversary of MLK Jr’s “I have a dream” speech. The title for Beck’s evening “performance” at the Kennedy Center is “Divine Destiny” which will examine the role of faith in our founding (more bogus “history” from David Barton?) and “heal your soul.” Beck hasn’t revealed which clergy folks will be there. But who knows, maybe the Pope will make a surprise appearance or – maybe – even God himself will descend from the rafters to proclaim Glenn Beck as his other son!!! If you want more “Divine Destiny,” click “continue.”

Now that's what I'm talking about!
