Mike Huckabee Endorses Gingrich Group’s Radical Christian Agenda
Reported by Priscilla - July 7, 2010 -
We know that Mike Huckabee pals around with some radical, right wing Christians who want to make the United States into a radical, right wing theocracy where the Bible supersedes the US Constitution. (The Founders are “rolling” as we speak – despite what pseudo historian Glenn Beck says). So, it’s not surprising that Huckabee supports this Christian jihad (whoops Crusade) as shown by his support for the call to "Pray and Act" being promoted by Newt Gingrich's group, "Renewing America's Leadership." After all, “Renewing America’s Leadership” is run by Huckabee’s fellow Christian Republican, Newt Gingrich, so it’s all good. But what makes it interesting is that this exhortation for Christians to rally round fetuses, non opposite marriage, and religious liberty, with its attendant seven areas for Christians to take over, is straight out of the Christian Dominionist theology of the “7 Mountains.” (One of those areas is the media so Murdoch better get right with Jesus.) So it does appear that Huckabee is both palling around with and supporting Christian extremists. But if he wants to be president, this really doesn’t demonstrate a commitment to tolerance and diversity of thought. Just saying….
“Renewing America’s Leadership” represents the fondest hopes and dreams of today’s Christians who, using a phrase that a Christian “patriot” on Fox & Friends used to describe atheism, want to shove their non mainstream theology down the throats of those who, like the Founders (despite what Glenn Beck says), support a separation of Church and State. Gingrich’s group joins the extremist religious vision of the American Taliban (whoops radical Christian right) with a worship of capitalism. Here’s the mission statement for the group founded by uber Christian and thrice married Newt Gingrich: “The mission of Renewing American Leadership (ReAL) is to preserve America’s Judeo-Christian heritage by defending and promoting the three pillars of American civilization: freedom, faith and free markets. We are dedicated to educating, organizing, training and mobilizing people of faith to renew American self-government and America’s role in the world.” On the front page of the website, you find cool stuff like a review of a book by a Syrian woman who hates Islam. The title of the book, “The God Who Hates,” is ironic given that the god of Newt and his right wing Christian pals really hate, I mean really, really hate gays!! Also on the page are awesome video links to the appearances, on Glenn Beck’s show, of uber conservative Christians Jim Garlow (chairman of “Renewing American Leadership”) and Dave Barton – like Beck, a pseudo historian who believes that separation of church and state is immoral. And there’s this cool link, on a photo of a cross superimposed on an American flag, to an article in the right wing “American Thinker,” about Obama’s “anti Christian agenda.” Looks like Newt's doing his best to promote the jihad (whoops crusade) of today's religious right.
But the “Call to Pray and Act” statement is clearly an agenda which is promoted by the radical Christian right. Its supporters include evangelicals, Dominionists, and very conservative Catholics including the National Organization For Marriage Founder, Robert George. Convicted felon and “Family” connected Chuck Colson is there as well as non movie star and former David Duke pal, Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council. It goes without saying that Dominionist Lou Engle is on board. He’s a way cool dude who wants to criminalize homosexuality. And another super cool dude is Ron Luce whose appearance before thousands of young, enthralled, Christian warriors was featured on CNN’s “God’s Warriors.” Among the clergy, you’ll find Portland Maine’s Bishop Thomas Malone whose congregations’ tithes went to defeating Maine’s same sex marriage law. You won’t find any liberal Protestants or Jews on the list. And an added bonus on the “Pray and Act” page is a link to the “Manhattan Declaration” - a “culture war manifesto” which protests the evil secular disintegration of society by evil libruls whilst proclaiming “the gospel of Jesus Christ.”
Comment: Mike Huckabee, part of “America’s Newsroom,” seems to be aligning himself with a part of America that is alien to a larger part of America. But then Huckabee is part of Fox “News” which preaches to a very “exclusive” choir. Nice to know that Fox “News” is providing Minister Huckabee with a lucrative pulpit.
