Beck and O'Reilly Joke About Torturing Democrats

Reported by Ellen - February 28, 2009 -

The “those who care about the Constitution are un-American” theme continued on “pro-America” FOX News' The O'Reilly Factor last night (2/27/09), as Bill O'Reilly discussed with Glenn Beck the Senate Intelligence Committee's decision to hold hearings on CIA detention and interrogation practices. According to the L.A. Times, the purpose, according to a senior Senate aide, is “to do fact-finding in order to learn lessons from the programs and see if there are recommendations to be made for detention and interrogations in the future," not to determine whether CIA officials broke the law. But to the ever-eager-to-foment-fear-and hatred-of-Democrats FOX News hosts, that translated into “they just want to do damage to people who have protected us for the last seven years, eight years,” (as Bill O'Reilly put it) and helping Al-Qaeda. Predictably, there was no guest to rebut such outrageous charges, just the like-minded Beck. Before long, Beck and O'Reilly were joking that the Democrats should be tortured. With video.

Beck disagreed that Feinstein's motive was to hurt people, just that “they have a screw loose” and “a fundamental misunderstanding.”

Beck continued, "That's why I think that we should just – if we're gonna torture, we should torture! If we're gonna do it, let's stop farming it out to somebody!"

O'Reilly didn't want to go there. "Let's stay focused," he told Beck. "There's got to be a reason why Feinstein and Pelosi and Leahy and all of these far-left loons (Beck giggled) want to do damage to the country. This hurts the United States. You know who the happiest in the world are on a CIA investigation? Al Qaeda. They're the happiest people.”

Beck enthusiastically agreed. With his devilish grin, he asked, “Are you saying that these guys might be un-American?”

Oh, no, not at all, claimed O'Reilly. “I would never say that. I'm saying misguided severely.” Then, he kidded, “And maybe should be tortured.”

Beck laughed uproariously. “Who gets to do that?” he asked.

“We'll play 'em your show," O'Reilly said. "For them, that would be really torture.”

"They have to watch the whole thing?" Beck asked. "'Cause that – nah, that might be too much."

"We'll strap 'em to a chair," O'Reilly said.

Beck turned to the camera. "See what's happening here?" he said.

O'Reilly complained that Beck was not “telling me why they're doing it,” meaning why the Democrats want to conduct the invesigation.

Beck repeated his “fundamentally misguided” comment and continued by saying that the Democrats believe that “if we just sit down and talk with everybody, we'll be OK.” But he added that the “other option” is “that they are leftist Marxists that would like to destroy the United States of America.” Then, with his clown face, he mugged with his fingers going in circles on each side of his head, “But that would be crazy.”

“Well, I don't know if I'm going to go that far,” O'Reilly said.

Beck laughed uproariously again. “Of course not!”

O'Reilly said, "I think they should explain themselves." He complained that "they" won't come on the show.

“They're not answering to us,” Beck said.

“Oh, yeah, they will,” O'Reilly said. “They will.”

I guess he's going to send Super-Ambush Man Jesse Watters after them.

But seriously, how long before they start joking about killing Democrats on FOX?
