Fox News Apologizes For "Magic Negro?" - Not!!!!!!
Reported by Priscilla - January 3, 2009
Via Think Progress and TV Newser: Fox News VP of programming Suzanne Scott "explains" (not apologizes) the offensively racist New Years chyron, "We received tens of thousands of text message submissions during our New Years Eve special, and this particular viewer submission was inadvertently cleared for air. At FOX we recognize our error as opposed to networks who allow their hosts to utter crude vulgarities to the public." As noted by Think Progress, this isn't the first time that Fox News has allowed "racially charged" language directed at Obama. Earlier this year, Fox aired a shot of Michelle Obama with the accompanying chyron: "Outraged liberals, stop picking on Obama's Baby Moma!" Regarding the future First Lady of the United States of America, Fox Producer Michael Shine claimed that "a producer on the program exercised poor judgment in using this chyron during the segment." (Comment: Yeah right!!) This little whoopsie came a day after the infamous "terrorist fist jab" comment by Fox's E.D. Hill. But Suzanne Scott's "explanation" was pathetic and a vivid example of what little children say when scolded; i.e. that somebody else is doing it too. As the saying goes "two wrongs don't make a right." And in typical Fox News attack mode, she hurls unsubstantiated you-know-what in order to absolve Fox and divert the conversation. Notice that at no point did she say that this comment was inappropriate. One wonders if Jen and Jon C will be given "celebrity" interviews on Fox as their vernacular and philosophy are in sync with "America's Newsroom" - White America, that is!!!!
