O'Reilly declares Coleman certified winner of MN Senate race - but it's not true

Reported by Chrish - November 20, 2008 -

From MediaMatters: "Echoing Sen. Norm Coleman's campaign, Bill O'Reilly falsely claimed that Coleman "was certified the winner" in the Minnesota Senate race against Al Franken, adding, "Coleman won by a mere 215 votes." In fact, the Minnesota State Canvassing Board did not certify a winner in the Senate race, having authorized an automatic recount of ballots for that race."

But here in reality the state-mandated recount continues, and Coleman's lead over Franken is shrinking, from the aforementioned 215 to 174, with only 18% of the ballots counted.

O'Reilly is utilizing the FOX News' time-tested tactic of calling the race for the Republican before all the votes are counted, to set up the perception of a win and possibly a "steal."

Sigh. I see nothing has changed at FOX in my absence - not that I really thought it would.
O'Reilly is still carrying water for Republicans, still lying, and still calling himself an "independent journalist." He better watch out, better not cry, and stop pouting over Republican losses or he's going to get a big lump of not-so-clean coal in his stocking for Christmas the holidays.
