Obama=Socialism, Obama=Socialism, Obama=Socialism

Reported by Melanie - October 14, 2008 -

Neil Cavuto's "Your World" today (October 14, 2008) was an hour-long campaign ad for John McCain. The "fair and balanced" pretense was out the window as was anything resembling journalism. It was propaganda all the way. (Wonder how much an hour of in-kind campaigning and airtime is worth and I wonder if McCain will declare Fox's coverage as a campaign donation on his campaign's financial forms.)

After a report by Fox's Dagen McDowell about what happened on Wall Street, Carly Fiorina was on to talk about how wonderful the "economic plan" John McCain laid out today will be for average Americans, even though his fellow Republicans seem to think it sucks.

UPDATE below.

Karl Rove was next on whether or not a "comeback" in stocks will help McCain and to talk generally about how things aren't going all that bad for him (I wanna laugh but given 2000 and 2004 I won't). He also reminded us that Reagan was down in the polls at this point in the cycle when he ran and that something like 44% of Americans still think Obama is "unqualified to be president." Oh, and Dukakis, Dukakis.

Next came two Wall Street types talking about the bailout (one loved it, one didn't) and they were followed by "Ragin' Ron," a/k/a Ron Weisflog. "Ragin' Ron" is the guy who stood up at a McCain rally last week and said, "I'm mad. I'm really mad."

Poor guy. Though it is the Bush administration that has decided to buy portions of ailing banks, Obama is the name that comes to Weisflog's mind when he thinks of socialism. "I know the financial institutions did wrong but they were shoved down their throat [sic] with ACORN [total crap] and the rest of it." People need to "wake up!"

Meghan McCain followed "Ragin' Ron." She published a children's book, "My Dad, John McCain" which Cavuto waved around the set as she spoke lovingly about her father and his trials and tribulations on the campaign trail. (The idea that more young people are for Obama is a myth made up by the "liberal media." And Sarah Palin's doing tons of interviews!)

Fox's Major Garrett reported from Ohio on Obama "blasting" McCain's "new economic plan," and then Cavuto hosted Brian Moore, the Socialist Party's presidential candidate. I never, ever thought I'd see the Socialist Party's presidential candidate on Fox "News" but when you're trying to scare voters and give them an idea of what Obama supposedly has in mind for our country, he can't be beat, especially when he appears over a chyron that reads, "Time for US to Nationalize Everything?"

Don Marron, a Wall Street investment guy came next. He and Cavuto talked about the bailout and then Joe Wurtzelbacher brought up the rear over a chyron that read: "Voter Confronts Obama Over His Tax Plan." Wurtzelbacher is an Ohio plumber who asked Obama a question about taxes and didn't like the answer. "His answer actually scared me even more... It's kind of a socialist viewpoint." I don't want to share my money "with other people. That's not the American dream."

Comment: I sense that something has changed on Fox as of today. Maybe the deep realization that things are not going at all well for their guy? That they've got exactly three weeks left and they've got to knuckle down and devote all their time to turning the tide? I don't know, but there was a different feel to the show today. Maybe someone sent a memo.

UPDATE: A memo about this perhaps? Poll Finds Wide Obama Lead Despite McCain Attacks.
